71 Year Old Senior Rides & Reviews ETrikes: It's Shocking Which Electric Tricycle is Her Favorite!

A senior 70-year-old woman is gonna test ride all these e-trikes and choose her favorite. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today I'm joined by Teresa, who's 70. She just rode an electric tricycle for the first time today. Now we're gonna have her ride all of these and choose her favorite.

Dustin: All right, so Teresa is an avid bike rider. She rides bikes weekly. We just got her on an e-trike for the first time. Now we're gonna have her try all of them. Choose which one you like the most. And you're five foot three, right?

Teresa: Yes.

Dustin: And you're 70 turning 71.

Teresa: Uh-huh.

Dustin: OK. OK, cool. So let's start here with our, I kind of moved it like biggest down to most comfortable.

Teresa: All righty.

Dustin: So you've already tried the rickshaw, but let's have you ride it again now that you're more comfortable. So this is our Rickshaw. Now you can ride this with or without passengers. You can take the basket off or take the seat off and put a basket back here. It's got four-inch wide tires. 

This is a pretty powerful trike. This is 750 watts. Most of the e-bikes you rode where they all were 500 watts. So that's why it's a little more powerful. Let me click the brake here for you. Take the parking brake off and go ahead and take another spin.

Teresa: All right then. OK.

Dustin: Well, now you have to go back to the trike steering.

Teresa: Yeah. Different steering with these bikes. Here we go. Yeah, this is my favorite one. Yeah. This is very….

Dustin: What do you think?

Teresa: I love it.

Dustin: Yeah? You're getting used to it now?

Teresa: Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah. Here we go.

Dustin: Do you feel more balanced now with the three wheels?

Teresa: Yes.

Dustin: Oh, watch, you're gonna hit that one. Oh, you're good.

Teresa: Oopsies.

Dustin: Gotta watch out for the wide.

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: Okay. So this next one, the Simple Step-Thru is going to feel similar because the motor size is the same. And so the speed will feel similar.

Teresa: OK.

Dustin: Now let me just move this down for you. OK, now the difference is, is that this is a twist throttle.

Teresa: OK.

Dustin: So you're going to twist it. So go ahead and get on.

Teresa: But I don't think I'll be twisting that throttle. I'll do it like I did the other ones, most likely.

Dustin: Hold the power button down. There you go. Oh wait, let me turn the battery on for you. Sorry, my fault. Okay, now hit that power button, and hold it down. Two seconds should come on. There you go. All right.

Teresa: Okay, here we go. It's on one, right? Oh. Okay. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. Oh, pull the throttle. There we go. There we are.

Dustin: How's that one compared to the first one?

Teresa: I like the first one.

Dustin: Okay.

Teresa: Maybe because I'm just used to it, but I like the wrist one.

Dustin: This one has a low step-through, which is nice.

Teresa: Yes. That's nice.

Dustin: Okay. Let's move on to. All right. So this is our EVRYjourney. Now, this one's a little less powerful. It's actually like one of the e-bikes that you liked. Same frame. Yeah. So go ahead. This one's a little bit, not different, but let me turn the power on. The power button is just here. So there you go. I can put the seat down a little bit for you too. Okay.

Teresa: Okay. And this has the throttle going sideways.

Dustin: No, that's just the gears right here. Well, the throttle is the thumb throttle right there.

Teresa: Oh, this one. Okay. And, oh, okay. Here we go. This one's higher. There we are.

Dustin: How's that?

Teresa: It's nice.

Dustin: Those brakes, this is a tester model for us, so those brakes need to be adjusted.

Teresa: Okay.

Dustin: Do you like this one better than this?

Teresa: I like the first one.

Dustin: Still like the first one?

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: Okay.

Teresa: This one's nice. This one has a nice basket.

Dustin: Yeah.

Teresa: A pet could even fit in there.

Dustin: That's right. Or back here too. So this is a bag but there's also a basket in here as well.

Teresa: This is like a stingray style from the 70s.

Dustin: So this is easy. I'll pull this one out. Watch your leg. Okay. So this one's folding too so you can transport it. So go ahead and hop on. This one's also, so this one's a little more powerful as well.

Teresa: Okay.

Dustin: But.

Teresa: Is it already on?

Dustin: Oh, it's not.

Teresa: And it's on one?

Dustin: Yeah.

Teresa: Okay. So should I put it on two?

Dustin: You can try two if you want. It's up to you.

Teresa: Oh, wait. All right. Here we go. Okay.

Dustin: You may.

Teresa: Oh, wait.

Dustin: It's so the gears, the way the gears shift?

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: This is a trigger shifter on this one so if you want to go higher, push this button. That'll make it harder to pedal, which will.

Teresa: Yeah, it has to be.

Dustin: Oh do it while you're moving, so get going, and then.

Teresa: Oh yeah, I know how the gears move all right. I like this one.

Dustin: How's this one?

Teresa: I like it.

Dustin: Better than the rickshaw?

Teresa: No.

Dustin: No. 

Teresa: Also, I have a huge family, so that would probably be more practical for me to get one.

Dustin: Sorry, what did you say?

Teresa: I have a huge family.

Dustin: Oh.

Teresa: And it would probably be more practical to get…

Dustin: Oh, so you mean you like being able to bring people on the back?

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: Yeah. But how about the ride? Like, what do you think?

Teresa: Oh, this is nice for just me. And I put my dog in here. Great.

Dustin: Okay. All right. So this one's a little bit different. Let me bring the seat up for you here. Oops. Okay. All right. Let's go ahead and sit down on this one.

Teresa: Oh wow, this is comfortable.

Dustin: Let me turn the battery on for you. So this is called our Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike. So you have a twist throttle here. Okay, you may want to try it on this one because it's, yeah, it's pretty fun. There you go.

Teresa: Oh yeah.

Dustin: Just ease into it. And you can pedal if you want to.

Teresa: Okay. Oh yeah.

Dustin: Comfortable?

Teresa: Yeah, very comfortable.

Dustin: Do you still like the first one?

Teresa: This is the most comfortable.

Dustin: Uh-huh. How's the steering and the…

Teresa: Yes, it seems easy to control. Let's see if I can park in here.

Dustin: So this is a 500-watt front hub motor as well. You have more of a recumbent, the forward pedaling. And yeah, really comfortable, nice seat.

Teresa: Yes.

Dustin: Okay, so the last one now is a little bit different. This is a reverse trike with two wheels in the front.

Teresa: Oh.

Dustin: So this is going to ride more like a regular bike.

Teresa: Okay.

Dustin: Okay. So go ahead and try that.

Teresa: Okay. Wait, where it's way back here? Okay.

Dustin: Let me put the kicks. There's a kickstand back here. Let me put it up for you. Okay. Yeah. Put the bike up.

Teresa: Okay. The throttle's there. It's on one. Is this the lowest it can get?

Dustin: No. Do you want it lower?

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: Okay. Okay, go ahead.

Teresa: Okay. Well, this would be a little bit to get used to. This is nice.

Dustin: What do you think?

Teresa: It's very different. I've never ridden a bike like this before. It's very different. It's very comfortable.

Dustin: How's the steering?

Teresa: It's better than I anticipated.

Dustin: Responsive, isn't it?

Teresa: Yeah. Yep.

Dustin: Does that feel more like a two-wheel bike to you?

Teresa: Better than a two-wheel.

Dustin: Yeah?

Teresa: Yeah.

Dustin: Yeah. Cool. All right. So all six trikes, e-trikes, which one's your favorite?

Teresa: Okay. This is the most comfortable of them all. And this is kind of practical for just one person. But I have a huge family and this would be so comfortable for everyone. Everybody. Yeah.

Dustin: They're in the car. Do you think they, if they want to be on camera, you could try to take them for a ride?

Teresa: Okay.

Dustin: Do you want to ask them?
