Check out this amazing electric trike for riders over 60 and over 80. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm joined by Constance who's 81 and Phyllis who's 67. Constance is sitting on the Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike from sixthreezero. All right. So Constance has just ridden electric tricycles for the first time. Same with Phyllis. And I actually can't get her out of the Simple Glide Recumbent E-Trike here. So you can check out another video where they went through and tried five different ones and Constance fell in love with this model for various reasons, which we're going to learn about. And so I thought we would make a specific video with her sharing her experience.
Dustin: So tell everyone when you got on it the first time why you fell in love with this one so much.
Constance: I can't explain it, except it didn't make me afraid to try an e-bike. And once I got going, I didn't want to get off it. It's very safe. I think the seat, I think it's the seat. Oh, yeah. And it's got little armrests. Suppose you want to do that, cruise that way. But when you're closer to 100 than to 50, you got to take care of yourself and feel very, very safe. And I think this bike, I could, this could last till I'm 100. Don't you think?
Dustin: I... would think so. So you were a little bit afraid on the other trike you tried, right?
Constance: I was kind of panicked.
Dustin: No, that's okay. And this one you just feel more…
Constance: I just sat down and this is my bike. This is my bike.
Dustin: The Simple Glide does have a longer wheelbase, which adds also stability to it. And you can see the handlebars are adjustable here.
Phyllis: Yeah.
Dustin: I didn't even do this with you, but you can actually oh wow easily figure out if there's a better or worse position.
Constance: I probably want to do a chopper thing. Get them way up high. You know?
Constance: Do you?
Dustin: Yeah. Okay. Well, then you can move them up. That's not going to be comfortable for you.
Constance: I know, but it's cool looking.
Dustin: Yeah, exactly.
Constance: I mean, no, I like the way it was. I'm just playing around. But this is a wonderful, solid... You will not be afraid of this. You can even be much older than I am and do it.
Dustin: And you said you just made a U-turn, right?
Constance: Yeah, I did a U-turn for the first time. No problem, you know. I feel like I want to go show off.
Dustin: Okay, show us the U-turn real quick. So just so everyone knows, it's a 500-watt front hub motor. How would you describe the power?
Constance: Well, you know, I've never been on an electric bike in my entire life. You know, I come from the age of... manual typewriter, so this is huge. Here we go. I'm going to do a U-turn now. I'll have to do it over here. Did you get that? Did you get it?
Dustin: We got it. Now, when you first got on, you weren't comfortable with the U-turn, right?
Constance: Oh, no.
Dustin: Are you getting better with it?
Constance: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Don't move, Phyllis. No, I'm going to U-turn around you. Whoa, now I'm going to do a wheelie.
Phyllis: Oh, my goodness. I know.
Dustin: She's exploring the zero radius turning.
Phyllis: Oh, she has a look of sheer ecstasy on her face.
Dustin: Do you want to show the reverse, too?
Constance: Oh, yeah. OK, so we're going to go in reverse now.
Dustin: So that's the kill switch. So here you would push it to that. Now you're in reverse. So now you twist the throttle.
Constance: Watch this. Yeah, but it makes your legs go around.
Dustin: Whoa.
Constance: OK.
Dustin: Now you can put it back into one. Just click it. Yep. Yep.
Phyllis: And there you go. Well done.
Dustin: Let's take him on a lap around then too. I'll go with you. Hold on one sec.
Constance: Okay, I'll do another new turn then.
Dustin: All right, ready when you are. Show us how you master this thing.
Constance: Ease on down, ease on down the road. Ease on down, ease on down the road. Ease on down, ease on down the road. Here goes Nana. Here goes Granny.
Dustin: Zippy, huh?
Constance: Yeah. Oh, my goodness. I could put some miles on this puppy. Okay, we're going around the sign. Okay. Oh, yeah. This is great. Just what I want for Christmas. I'll guilt my son into getting this. Here we go.
Dustin: She's out of here.
Constance: Here we go.
Dustin: I think she's in love.
Constance: This is so much fun. Woo.
Dustin: A lot of smiling and giggling. Oh, we lost the microphone. Oh, that's OK. All right. So you're in love here, right?
Constance: Oh, my gosh. This is the best, best thing I've ever tried out since the 50s, I think. It's been a long time since I had this much fun.
Dustin: Oh, that's awesome.
Constance: That's my motto. Life begins at 80. Look, I'm a perfect example. Perfect. I love it. Eighty-one and a half. I am.
Dustin: That's awesome. Well, you can maybe get your first e-bike at eighty-one and a half.
Constance: Yeah.
Dustin: All right. We're going to have Phyllis give it a try and we'll see how she likes it. And getting on and off for you is easy, right?
Constance: Oh, yeah. Yes. But first, it has to get parked. Oh, yeah. Just park.
Dustin: Pull the brake with one hand and push the button down with your other hand.
Constance: Oh. Is that it? Do you see that? Well done. It's low, so I can get on and off it very easily.
Dustin: Perfect.
Constance: Come, Phyllis. I'll let you try my bike.
Dustin: All right, Phyllis, you're up.
Phyllis: Okay.
Dustin: You can do this one.
Phyllis: Oh, okay, cool. Yeah. Well, thank you, Constance. You're a hard act to follow.
Constance: Oh, treat it gently.
Phyllis: But, oh my gosh, what a great vehicle.
Dustin: So when you test-rode all of them, you liked this one too, right?
Phyllis: I did. Yeah.
Dustin: And what did you love most about it?
Phyllis: Super easy to steer, and felt stable, but it had a lot of pep. You know, it just got up and went. But, you know, Constance made a really good point about safety, you know, because... You know, you get older and the last thing you want to do is feel out of control, unstable, like you might fall. So with all of the models, I never felt unsafe. I never felt unstable, even with my most erratic driving habits at times. You know, I mean, because I went sometimes maybe a little fast. They just hug the curves. Yeah, it's super fun. It's like a little roadster. Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, I do like the fact that each one is unique, but it's also, you know, but they're simple, which is nice. I can see once you get used to it, it's just like, yeah, it's great.
Dustin: Cool. All right, let's take a little lap around.
Phyllis: Am I going to be pedaling using the throttle or both? I see the throttle is over here.
Dustin: Twist throttle.
Phyllis: Well, you know, that throttle is fun. See ya. Oh, wait, it's on. I know. I can see it's on. Oh, the brake's on.
Dustin: Is it?
Phyllis: I think so.
Dustin: Try it again.
Phyllis: Yeah, see I like that safety feature too.
Dustin: Oh boy.
Phyllis: Should I have done that?
Dustin: That's okay just ease into the throttle.
Phyllis: Okay sorry.
Dustin: How do you like the comfort?
Phyllis: You know what that’s huge too and I personally like the back sit up straight. Comfortable back with extra support. Really nice. Look at this. Just put a little touch of brake there, but it never felt like it was out of control, which is so amazing.
Dustin: That's awesome.
Phyllis: All right.
Dustin: Constance was worried you weren't coming back with her bike.
Phyllis: I know. It's her bike now. Yeah, look at that. Stops on a dime. I mean, what's not to like about this one? This is super comfy though. Yeah.
Dustin: Cool.
Phyllis: You can almost take a nap on this.
Dustin: Well, you don't even need to get up. Right. I mean, it's comfortable just to sit there.
Phyllis: Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. Like if you're tired, you know, whatever, you just want to rest for a while. This is perfect. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Super comfy.
Dustin: Cool. All right. Well, there we go. Constance, do you want to come back in the shot with us here?
Phyllis: Sure, your journey, your experience. Enjoy the ride.
Dustin: That's right. So we got Constance, who's 81, and Phyllis, who's 67. They love the Simple Glide. A unique e-trike. If you want something easy to get on and off.
Phyllis: Is it called the Simple Glide?
Dustin: Yeah.
Phyllis: Wow. Well, that makes sense.
Dustin: Yeah. Simple, it glides.
Phyllis: Yes.
