Are electric bikes good for senior citizens? The answer to this question, is yes. Now there's a lot more to it than that. Electric bikes are an excellent option for senior citizens because they can allow you to go so much farther than you've ridden before. In addition to that, you can choose how much you want to exert or not exert yourself based on how much you want to let the motor assist you during your rides, so the cool thing is, let's say you get away, you know, four or five miles from the house and you rode under your power, then you can engage the motor, engage the throttle and have the motor help get you home. Electric bikes are safe, but there's one caveat, which is number one, don't jump on an electric bike if you haven't ridden a standard bike in years. The first thing is to get on a standard bike and get yourself comfortable again, balancing on how to break and how to stop, or if you get an electric bike, practice riding it without utilizing the motor. Secondly, ease yourself into using the pedal assist modes. Usually on the pedal assist, there are different levels. One, two, three, four, five. Familiarize yourself with what kind of power output each level gives you. Start in level one, and get comfortable. Don't go to level two till you're comfortable in level one. Do not go up to speeds that you're not comfortable going at, that is very important. Just because the bike can do it doesn't mean you should do it.
An electric bike is safe, but it's important that the owner, the user, knows how to fully understand it. This is a question that you have to answer for yourself in terms of whether should you ride a two-wheeled bike or a three-wheeled bike. Now, my suggestion is how can you assess this for yourself. Number one, you know, think about where you're going to be riding and what type of riding you're going to be doing. If you're going to be out in crowded areas, with lots of people around, anything that's going to compromise your ability to be safe on a bike, maybe you should go in the direction of a tricycle only because they're going to be more stable, there's less risk of falling off. Now, if you're in a more controlled environment and there's less risk for people bothering you or affecting you, it's a private path or a private neighborhood or a private community and you feel like you can be relaxed and not deal with any sort of distractions, then maybe a two-wheeled bike is the right option for you.
So it could be a combination of where you're riding plus the Terrain is that maybe, you know, how you choose what bike. But I think the number one thing you have to ask yourself is my balance an issue at all? If your balance is an issue at all, you should not be riding on a two-wheeled bike. So my suggestion is if you're not sure what's right for you, get an outside opinion a son a daughter a friend if you can a professional a physical therapist. Somebody who can assess you to make an honest suggestion around what they think is right what they think is right for you.
