Best Spots To Ride Your eBike On The North Shore of Oahu

Updated On: June 27, 2022

Oahu is one of the most beautiful islands in Hawaii, and it happens to be one of the best spots for biking, too. This is especially true if you own an eBike and you enjoy leisurely cruises by the beach. If you’re looking for the best places in Oahu to enjoy your eBike and take in some scenery, check out the following routes and trails that are perfect for a day spent eBiking. You can enjoy a ride on autopilot or an invigorating workout, depending on your mood.

The North Shore Landscape

The North Shore is commonly cited as one of the best places in Oahu to go surfing or snorkeling, but did you know that it’s also an ideal spot for riding an eBike? Indeed, the North Shore is home to a number of bike trails that you can traverse while soaking up the sunlight and ocean scenery. It should be noted that many of the trails in the North Shore area are mountainous, meaning that they’re best for experienced riders. Still, there are some beachside paths that can be enjoyed by riders of all skill levels.

Biking Banzai Pipeline

The Banzai Pipeline is designed specifically for bicyclists, and it’s part of the greater Ehukai Beach Park. Conveniently located just five minutes away by bike from the Ke Iki Beach Bungalows, it features an accessible bike path that eventually leads to the Kamehameha Highway. No matter where you take the Banzai Pipeline, though, you’ll discover the beauty that this highway has to offer.

Biking Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach lives up to its name when dusk arrives. Locals and tourists alike often gather to watch the gloriously illuminated sunset fade across the sky. You’ve heard of riding off into the sunset, and now you can bike off into the sunset. The bike paths along Sunset Beach are particularly suited to eBikes because they are mostly flat and easy to follow. Take the bike path to Ke Nui road to discover more beachside beauty.

Biking Kaunala Beach

Kaunala Beach is one of Oahu’s hidden gems, and that makes it perfect for an eBike spree. Nestled between Sunset Beach and Hoalua Street, it’s conveniently situated close to many other beaches and bike paths, so it’s easy to reach yet still secluded. Visitors will enjoy trekking along the beach’s trails and taking in views of the crystal blue ocean. This beach is best treated as a destination, though, rather than a place to ride around.

Best Spots to Stop for Food

If you’ve been biking all day, it’s only natural that you’d be hungry. There are several spots where you can grab a bite to eat, take a break, and refuel. Ted’s Bakery is three minutes away from Sunset Beach, and it’s famous for its haupia pie. This delectable dessert is a classic combination of coconut and chocolate, but it’s just one of many treats you’ll find. If you’re looking for something that has more protein and less sugar, though, you can stop by Banzai Bowls, which is just off the Banzai Pipeline.

Where to Get Your Bikes

There are many bike shops in and around Oahu, including Sunset Beach and nearby areas. You can get an eBike locally, or your can order yours online. Online retailers such as Sixthreezero offer an array of eBike selections to choose from.

Bike Safety & Precautions on the North Shore

Biking throughout Oahu is generally safe, but you must still follow basic precautions. Hawaii law states that all eBike riders must be at least 15 years old, and all eBikes should be registered to their owner. In addition to legal compliance, you should comply with safety regulations by always wearing a helmet.
