E-Bikes & Bikes Customised to You
Hey, guys. Dustin here, CEO of Sixthreezero. Today we're going to show you the best step-through bike for seniors over 60. We've got our riders behind us, so stick around.
Okay. So today we're going to show you the best step-through bike for seniors over 60. But before I do, hit that subscribe button below. Stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero. Be the first to know about all the new content, giveaways, and of course, new bikes and products we're putting out.
All right, so we have our over 60 riders here behind us. A step-through frame is important to a lot of riders as we get older, especially over 60, and over 70, because mounting and dismounting can become an issue depending on if you've had any kind of surgery on your knees or back, or just the general aging process. I know there are concerns out there around safety. So I want to show you today the best step-through bike and how easy it is to mount and dismount. And the other benefit of this particular model is our Sixthreezero EVRYjourney. But before we jump into it, let's just meet our riders really quickly. Start over here. Tell everyone your name, height, weight, and just a little bit about your riding.
Yes. Hi, my name's Eddie. I'm 62. I weigh 240 pounds. I'm 5'10 tall. I live in Ventura, California, so it's a pretty active area. We ride our bikes a lot. We have beach cruisers and a couple of e-bikes. So we're on our bikes a lot.
Tell us about the surgery you had.
Oh yeah, I had a knee replacement about a year and a half ago. Actually, riding the bikes we have were actually kind of hard because of the knee, of course.
Cool. We'll see ... Yeah.
Took me a while to get going again.
Cool. So we'll show you how easy this is for Eddie and how it works out for his knee. All right. Moving on here. Tell everyone your name and body stats.
I'm Mike. I'm 61, I'm 6'1, 195 pounds.
And bike riding habits?
I live down by Venice Beach, so I ride down on the beach a lot, and to and from gym workouts.
Cool. All right. Thank you, Mike. Moving on. Okay. Tell everyone your name and a little bit about your height, and weight.
Hi, I'm Marilyn. I'm 70 years old. I'm 5'8. I'm 140 pounds. And I haven't been on a bike for 20 years plus.
Perfect. Okay. She just rode her bike for the first time in 20 years in another video. Check that out. It's a lot of fun if you want to see her getting comfortable with riding again. Okay. Moving on now. Tell everyone your name, height, weight, and a little bit about your riding habits.
Hi, I'm Catherine. I'm 66 years old, 5'8, and 120 pounds. I haven't ridden in about a year or so.
Okay.
I usually just ride on vacation for fun.
Perfect.
But when I was a kid I rode a lot, but not so much anymore.
Okay, perfect. So we've got a real variance in ... Actually, don't need this. We have a real variance in riding, heights, weights, and how comfortable everyone is. So if you want to go ahead and get with the bike that you're going to show everyone. We're going to show why this is so great for seniors over 60. Who's going to take the teal? Maybe Catherine. Got Mike on the cream. Don't get on yet. We have a very low step-through on the EVRYjourney.
When you mount the bike ... Mike, I know you like to do the leg swing, but if you could just do the step over. And then also with Eddie here, with his knee surgery. So go ahead and show everyone how you can easily get on. Eddie does a little lean. Go ahead and step on and get on. You can get on Marilyn. Everyone can get on.
Okay. Number one, the easy to get on. Now you can just slide back on the seat. What makes this step-through bike even better is it has a forward pedaling design. So you can see if you look across the board now ... Oh, stay back here, Eddie. Everybody's got their feet basically flat on the ground. Why this is, is because not only this is a step-through, but with the forward pedaling design. Meaning, that the pedals are shifted forward six inches from where they are on a traditional bike. So, when you're standing, you can have your feet flat on the ground, but when you're riding, you can actually still get that ample leg extension. The benefit is the seat is actually lower to the ground than on a typical bike because you don't need the seat to be higher for the leg extension because you're getting the leg extension with the pedals being moved forward. So everybody has their feet flat on the ground.
Actually, all of the bikes have been pre-adjusted to their bodies. Except for Mike who's a little bit low. If you want, you can actually hop off and go ahead and raise that seat up. But the other bikes have actually been pre-adjusted to their body types. So their feet are flat on the ground with the correct adjustment to their body. Number one, it's an easy, low step-through. Number two is that forward pedaling design.
Number three, you can see how everyone's sitting in an ergonomic position with their backs fully upright. We're going to show you on a test ride, really quick, what that looks like. But no pain on your body, that is a huge benefit. Going for a bike ride can be a painful endeavor. It's going to put tension on your muscles. But with the EVRYjourney, it has four custom adjustment points. The tilt of the handlebars, the raising and lowering of the handlebars, the tilt of the seat, and the raising and the lowering of the seat. You just witnessed Mike very simply and easily do the quick release to raise and lower the seat. He got it into the height that he needed. You can also adjust the height of the handlebars and the tilt of the handlebars to dial it into your body. So, not only is it a step-through, forward pedaling design, but you can adjust it perfectly to your body so you're in an ergonomic riding position, taking the tension off all your muscles everywhere.
In addition, the aluminum frame's going to be super light. Actually, do you mind, Catherine, demonstrating how you can pick the bike up? So you can see right there, Catherine's 66. She can easily lift it and get it on. Marilyn, do you want to give it a try?
I don't know.
Maybe just try to lift it a little bit. We'll see. We can capture this live reaction on camera to see.
Okay. Where should I hold it?
Yeah, back of the seat.
Back of the seat.
And then right up here, maybe.
And then right up here.
Just try to lift it a little.
Here we go.
There we go.
Yay.
She doubted herself and we proved her wrong, am I right?
Yes.
So it's not too bad, right?
No, it's great.
Yeah. I mean, you don't want to be doing that on a daily basis, but proves the point that it can be lifted, and put onto a bike rack. It's on the lighter side. The other beauty of that, it's going to make the riding so much smoother and more efficient, and it's going to be easier to control. Heavier bikes, they could sway in a direction. For someone over the age of 60, you want something light, easy to steer, and not be taking you one way or the other. So that pretty much sums it up.
Now let's go ahead and witness all of them take a little test ride. Maybe one person at a time. You can follow in line, make a lap and come back, and we'll show everyone. There goes, Catherine. Go ahead, Mike. Go after her. And go ahead, Marilyn, right after her. You can see everybody ...
Wait a second. Marilyn has to adjust the pedals.
No problem. There she goes. And there's Eddie. Look at everybody in their perfect ergonomic riding position. Eddie's grabbing the handlebars. He's getting a little crazy with his riding. But you know, that option's there if you want it. Now, the best step-through bike we're talking about, look how comfortable, and easy to ride. You loved it? Still, loving it?
Loving it.
Nice. Shoulders back, relaxed. Here comes Marilyn. Look at how relaxed. Look at the perfect ... it's almost the picture-perfect idea of what a rider should look like, comfortable. How's it feel, Marilyn? Comfortable?
Great. I love it.
You guys can come back here to the starting point.
No need to do this. It's really easy.
Now, I did just notice. Eddie, your seat's too low, right?
Yes, it was too low. I didn't want to adjust that.
No, that's okay. Actually, we forgot to adjust Eddie's. If you want to just go ahead and adjust it yourself, you can show them. Because he needs that seat to be amply high enough so he's getting proper leg extension for his knee. There you go. He can easily bring that seat up and dial it in. That's going to be a much better ride for him now.
There you go.
Yes.
Perfect. Okay.
Mm-hmm.
