Ebikes Heavier Riders Must See - Electric Bikes for Big and Tall Riders

Dustin: Hey guys. I'm Dustin, and today, we're going to show you electric bikes for heavier riders. Stick around. Okay, so today, we are going to show you electric bikes for heavier riders, but before we do, hit that Subscribe button below, and don't forget, stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero, and be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, new products, giveaways, a whole lot of things. So, hit Subscribe. If you see some bikes you like today or you're looking for an electric bike, go to our website, sixthreezero.com, and check out all the electric bikes we have on our site.

Okay, so a lot of questions we get here at Sixthreezero are, what electric bikes are good for heavier riders? Now, how you distinguish what is heavier and whatnot is up to be determined. I, myself, I'm 215 pounds, and the way the bike works for me works differently for a rider that's 150 pounds. So, with me today, I have riders of varying weights over 250 pounds to demonstrate how the e-bikes will work, respond, and perform with riders of varying heights and weights, so it'll give everyone at home a good idea of some electric bikes that will work for you and your body type.

So, with that, let's go ahead and meet our riders. The other thing I was going to say before we get started is all of our riders behind us today have never even ridden an e-bike before. So, you're going to also witness their first time riding an e-bike and getting the experience of getting on, using the controls, and to see how easy it is for them to get used to it. All right, stick around. Okay, we are here with our first rider. All right. What's your name?

Dustin (Rider): Also Dustin.

Dustin: Okay. Where'd you come from today? I'm just curious. What city?

Dustin (Rider): Down from Los Angeles.

Dustin: Okay. You've never ridden an e-bike, right?

Dustin (Rider): That is correct.

Dustin: What about last time you rode a regular bicycle?

Dustin (Rider): It's been almost a decade.

Dustin: Okay, wow. So, today will be the first time getting back on two wheels in a while?

Dustin (Rider): Yes.

Dustin: Okay. So, if you mind telling everyone at home your height and your weight?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, I'm 6'1", 400 pounds.

Dustin: Okay, awesome. Well, thanks for joining us today, Dustin. All right. Moving on to our next rider, your name and where you came from to with us today.

Adam Sartain: Hi, I'm Adam Sartain. I came from Los Angeles.

Dustin: Cool. Ever ridden an e-bike?

Adam Sartain: No, this is my first time.

Dustin: What about you? The last time on a bike, period?

Adam Sartain: Ooh, that'd be closer to 20 years. I'd say about 18 years.

Dustin: Wow.

Adam Sartain: College.

Dustin: Wow. Okay. Okay. So, another rider that's going to get back up on two wheels here. If you mind telling everyone your height and your weight.

Adam Sartain: I'm 5'10" and I weigh 340 pounds.

Dustin: Okay, awesome. Well, thanks for coming for the ride today. All right. Moving down the line here, what's your name and where'd you come from?

Stella: My name is Stella, and I rode in all the way from Long Beach.

Dustin: Long Beach. Okay. So, you're a little closer actually than LA. Ever ridden an e-bike?

Stella: Never.

Dustin: Never. What about the last time on a bike for you?

Stella: Over 15 years?

Dustin: Over 15 years.

Stella: Yes.

Dustin: Okay, cool. Can you tell everyone at home your height and your weight?

Stella: I'm 5'7" and 270 pounds.

Dustin: Okay, awesome. Well, thank you for joining us today. All right. Last but not least rider, tell us your name and where you came from.

Raya: Hi, my name is Raya. I came from LA.

Dustin: LA, and ever been on an e-bike?

Raya: I have never been on an e-bike. I'm excited though.

Dustin: Yeah. What about the last time you rode a bicycle?

Raya: Eight years. I'm surprised, I think I'm the most recent in the group.

Dustin: You remember exactly. Do you remember exactly eight years ago?

Raya: Yeah, I do. I went into oncoming traffic in Miami, and so I do recall.

Dustin: Okay. All right. We're going to train her on e-bikes before we go into incoming traffic today, so we want to make sure we avoid that. Okay, cool. Do you mind telling everyone your height and your weight?

Raya: My height is 5'3" and my weight is 326 pounds.

Dustin: Okay, awesome. Thank you. So, the great news is, is we have whole varying degrees of weight and heights, both factors that not only affect the longevity of the batteries and the usage but also how you get on and off and how you fit the bike. So, now, we're going to move through each rider individually. I'm going to adjust the bike to fit them, and then we're going to witness their first time riding an e-bike. Then, after that, we're going to go for a little ride and just see how the bikes perform for each person's body type. Stick around.

Okay. So, before we jump into the ride with our heavier riders to see how the e-bikes perform, I just want to walk you through the e-bike that they'll be riding today, which is the Sixthreezero EVRYjourney 500-watt electric. It's available in the step-through version and the non-step-through version. You can find them on our website under electric bikes, sixthreezero.com. So, you have a 500-watt rear hub motor, a 10.4 amp hour 48-volt battery, and you've got five levels of pedal assist. You also have a throttle-only you can use. So, you can do pedal assist or throttle-only. In addition, you have front and rear disc brakes. Also, you have seven speeds on an external derailleur like you would on a normal bicycle. So, if you want to ride this without the electricity, or if you're going fast with the pedal assist level five, you can shift into level gear seven. You're going uphill, you can put it in gear one, and make it easier to pedal.

Now, with this, in terms of range, you're looking at anywhere from 30 to 50, 60 miles depending on how you ride the bike. So, it varies. The range is going to vary depending on how much throttle you use or pedal assists you use, and then also what terrain you're riding on, pavement, trails, and then what kind of hills. What's the topography? What kind of grades on hills are you riding up? So, as an estimate, we'll say 30 to 50 miles. Now, for top speed, with the throttle-only on this bike, you're going to hit 20 miles an hour. In pedal assist, you're going to be able to get up to 28 miles an hour, so there's a lot of power in this 500-watt rear hub motor.

In terms of the weight limit, you're going to see how our riders from 250 pounds up to 400 pounds enjoy this bike, and how the bike performs for them. Will it get them uphills? The answer is yes, and I think you'll be surprised by how much power is packed in this 500-watt rear motor. So, stick around to see our riders on the 500-watt EVRYjourney electric bike.

Okay, we got the two Dustins here, Dustin and Dustin, and we're going to get him up and riding for his very first time. You're 6'1" 400 you said, never been on an e-bike. So, already, you're tall. So, let me go ahead and raise the seat. Now, the beauty is we have the four-custom adjustment points. So, go ahead and just hop on.

Dustin (Rider): You can just toss it out of the way.

Dustin: Let me put your hat on here for you.

Dustin (Rider): Yeah.

Dustin: All right. Okay.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: So, how do you feel about the handlebars? Your feet look pretty good actually. Do you feel like the seat should be higher?

Dustin (Rider): Could honestly maybe take it just down a scotch.

Dustin: The seat down?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah.

Dustin: Okay, cool.

Dustin (Rider): Just let me hop up out of there.

Dustin: No problem. Does the angle feel okay?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, I think the angle's good.

Dustin: Okay. Okay, go ahead.

Dustin (Rider): All right. Yeah, I think that's all right.

Dustin: Okay. Handlebars, good position?

Dustin (Rider): I think so.

Dustin: Okay. All right. Well, I'll walk you through everything, so it can function like a normal bike if you want. You don't have to have the power on if you want. You can try riding right now. Let me take it... Actually, you're in gear three.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: You can try just going for a little ride, or we can get the power going. Up to you.

Dustin (Rider): Try normal, I guess.

Dustin: Okay. There you go. Okay.

Dustin (Rider): All right.

Dustin: Think you're ready for the electric?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, let's give it a shot.

Dustin: Okay. All right. So, let me walk you through everything here.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: So, we'll put the kickstand down. Everything on the electric is right here.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: So, you're going to push this button, and that's going to come on.

Dustin (Rider): All right.

Dustin: You have five levels of assistance, and you can change the level of assistance by pushing here.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: I'll start you out in level three.

Dustin (Rider): All right.

Dustin: Just to get you comfortable with it.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: Then, you also have a throttle here. So, the throttle, you can actually push, and you don't need to pedal at all.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: So, let's just start with the pedal assist. If you want, go out and go straight.

Dustin (Rider): Further down?

Dustin: Yeah, I think because it's a little harder to-

Dustin (Rider): Sure.

Dustin: ... contain the power in here.

Dustin (Rider): Sure.

Dustin: Yeah. Once you start clicking or start pedaling, you're going to feel that jolt. You can keep pedaling, or you can let it glide and just pedal as you see fit to get the power, basically.

Dustin (Rider): All right. Oh, okay.

Dustin: What do you think? First reactions.

Dustin (Rider): That's pretty cool. Yeah, way easier than doing it without power.

Dustin: Yeah. It gives you that extra oomph, huh?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah.

Dustin: Then, yeah, when you come to a stop, you can, if you want to downshift it, because that way, it doesn't jolt you. Do you know what I mean? When you're-

Dustin (Rider): Oh, okay.

Dustin: ... still trying to pedal. So, now, go ahead and give it a go again. Do another lap.

Dustin (Rider): Okay.

Dustin: This time you can pedal a little, stop pedaling, and just use the throttle and see how that feels.

Dustin (Rider): That's this?

Dustin: Yeah. You're just going to push it, and you can dictate the power basically how much you push in or out, right, so-

Dustin (Rider): Okay. It's touch-sensitive?

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah.

Dustin (Rider): Okay, cool.

Dustin: You can let us hear any reactions because we have you miked up.

Dustin (Rider): All right. Oh, this is cool. I think if I have one of these, I might not go a decade without riding a bike.

Dustin: It's pretty cool, right? The throttle.

Dustin (Rider): Yeah. Super neat.

Dustin: Yeah. That's nice too when you come in for the turns, if you get a feel with the thumb throttle, you can use that to get yourself in and out of stopping. How did you feel about the overall comfort?

Dustin (Rider): It was pretty good. I think definitely, most of any issues, any discomfort I'm having is just because I've gone so long without riding, but I definitely expected to wipe out more than I did, not having done it in so long but-

Dustin: Well, thankfully, you didn't.

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, that felt pretty good, felt pretty natural. It felt just like getting on a bicycle. You don't really forget.

Dustin: Yeah. How did the power feel? I mean, did that feel like enough power for you?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, it was good. I was worried that it was going to be too much at first because I saw some of the other videos and everything and was watching to see what these were about, but yeah. I was able to respond. I was able to adapt and brake and everything without it being just a like rocket.

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah.

Dustin (Rider): Yeah, it was good. I liked it. It felt very responsive, felt really easy to shift it to what I needed from it.

Dustin: Cool. Yeah. The thing too, I'll say, I forgot to mention, these are the EVRYjourney 500-watt e-bikes. So, you have 500 watts of power. In addition to that, we've got five levels of assistance. So, I only had Dustin in level three. Now, that's totally up to you to adjust. Basically, we could have put you on five, which would've given you more, or we could have put you on one to decrease the power. So, however, the assistance is responding to not only the rider weight, the terrain, and the conditions, you can, as you see fit, really adjust that. So, if level one's more comfortable for you, you can go down to level one. I put it in three just as a midway point.

Dustin (Rider): Yeah. That makes sense.

Dustin: Yeah. So, cool. We got Dustin up and riding. Let's go ahead and move on to our next rider. Okay, now, we're here with Adam. Adam, you said been a decade since you rode last. You say 20 years.

Adam Sartain: Closer to 20 years.

Dustin: 20 years.

Adam Sartain: So, about 18 years, yeah.

Dustin: Okay. 18 years since he's even been on a bike. We are going to get him up and riding on a bike and riding on an electric bike. Remind me again of your height and your weight.

Adam Sartain: 5'10" and about 340.

Dustin: 340. Okay, cool. So, if you want to get on, we'll go ahead and see. So, Adam is on the EVRYjourney. We have two frames, basically a step-through frame and a non-step-through frame, depending on what you like and the look of it. Totally up to you. So, how does that feel to you?

Adam Sartain: Feels all right. A little awkward because-

Dustin: Any adjustments you think we could make that would make it better? We can lower ... The handlebars look a little high to me.

Adam Sartain: Yeah.

Dustin: Okay.

Adam Sartain: We can lower those?

Dustin: Yep.

Adam Sartain: Oh, wow. That's really cool. Oh wow.

Dustin: We can bring it ... Sorry.

Adam Sartain: See, I'm used to cheap bikes.

Dustin: Okay. Then, we can tilt them down too.

Adam Sartain: That isn't adjustable, and you just get what you get. Oh, wow. This is ... Yeah.

Dustin: Is that better?

Adam Sartain: Yeah, that's really good.

Dustin: Yeah, it's definitely good to have these four custom adjustment points to really dial it into your body. Okay. Beautiful. Okay.

Adam Sartain: All right.

Dustin: So, okay. Seat height, the seat feels good?

Adam Sartain: Yeah, I think I could do that.

Dustin: Okay. Let me see what gear you're in actually. Okay, let me ... Actually, if you could just get off really quick.

Adam Sartain: Yeah.

Dustin: I probably need to pre-adjust all these just to put it into first gear. Okay. So, give it a shot here. Then, you can pedal backward. There you go. Get the pedal, yeah, in a good position.

Adam Sartain: All right. Right. Let's see. I'm doing it. I'm doing it.

Dustin: You can go straight. Oh.

Adam Sartain: There we go.

Dustin: There you go.

Adam Sartain: Starting to get-

Dustin: If you want, you can go down all the way.

Adam Sartain: Yeah.

Dustin: All right.

Adam Sartain: Circle around here. So, all the way to the end here. It already feels easier than some other bikes I've ridden before. I'm remembering now.

Dustin: I noticed there's just one little cable that's hitting the spokes. That's the noise we're hearing, so that's easy-

Adam Sartain: Oh, there we go.

Dustin: Okay. Let's see. This is just ... All right. There we go. Okay. You can stay on if you want.

Adam Sartain: Oh. All right.

Dustin: Or you can get off. Totally up to you. Either way. Okay. So, you probably overheard, but I'll walk you through everything. You have your power, turn it on right here. Now, you've got your pedal assist level, and you can adjust that up or down. So, I'm going to leave it in the pedal like level one now.

Adam Sartain: Right.

Dustin: You're going to feel when you start pedaling, it's going to jolt you a little bit. So, let's get you lined up on a straightaway.

Adam Sartain: Okay, good.

Dustin: So, just plan to go straight down as far as you want.

Adam Sartain: Okay.

Dustin: Yeah.

Adam Sartain: All right.

Dustin: Whenever you're ready.

Adam Sartain: Oh, yeah, there it is. Wow. Yeah, it's like going downhill, but I'm just going straight, and I'm coasting. If I really wanted to go fast, I could just ... Wow. That is really cool.

Dustin: It feels like enough power?

Adam Sartain: Absolutely, yeah. More than enough.

Dustin: More than enough. That's just in level one.

Adam Sartain: See, now, I discovered the brake.

Dustin: Yeah, there you go. Cool. So, that was pretty easy. Now, let's try one more thing here.

Adam Sartain: Okay.

Dustin: Let me just check the ... Just, yeah. Okay. We have some noise going on in the back here, but it seems to be some kind of cable I'll have to take a look at it, but the bike in itself is okay.

Adam Sartain: It's handling just fine. Yeah.

Dustin: Yeah. So, now, here's your throttle. So, I'll get you back on a straightaway. The same thing, you can start by pedaling and then just kick that throttle in, and feel free to stop pedaling and just let the bike do the work.

Adam Sartain: All right.

Dustin: So, you can see the 500 watts is a good amount of power, and it really has the capability for varying weights.

Adam Sartain: Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah. That's very, very nice, very intuitive. Here, I'm going uphill and I hardly need to pedal at all. In fact, I'm like literally not pedaling right now. This is all throttle.

Dustin: How's that feel?

Adam Sartain: This is great.

Dustin: Pretty cool, huh?

Adam Sartain: Yeah. Yeah. That's incredible.

Dustin: The power felt like enough to you?

Adam Sartain: Oh, more than enough. Yeah. I was going easy on it.

Dustin: Cool. Yeah.

Adam Sartain: If I had a good long stretch, I could just-

Dustin: Open it up.

Adam Sartain: Yeah.

Dustin: Cool. We'll take a ride, and so everyone can get the feel for going a little faster a bit here.

Adam Sartain: Right.

Dustin: So, all right. Well, there you have it. Let's go ahead and move on to our next rider. Okay, now I'm with Stella. Stella hasn't been on a bicycle in over 15 years and has never been on an e-bike.

Stella: Never. I mean-

Dustin: Today's going to be your first day. Remind everyone again of your height and your weight.

Stella: I'm 5'7" and 270 pounds.

Dustin: Okay, cool. So, 5'7". Let me just move this up just a touch. Okay, go ahead and hop on.

Stella: Whoa. Okay.

Dustin: Good? Bad? Too low?

Stella: The seat.

Dustin: Is it the angle? One thing I will say, the seat is going to be a very personal thing. If it's the actual shape, it's something you could always change and upgrade.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: I can raise or lower it or tilt it if it's too far back. If the front is-

Stella: It's slightly too far back.

Dustin: Like this way?

Stella: Because the front part ...

Dustin: Oh, okay. Yes. I see the angle.

Stella: It's going up.

Dustin: Yep, yep, yep. Into the crotch area.

Stella: Yeah.

Dustin: No problem. Okay, so we just take a wrench here. We can loosen these bolts and ... You can let go. I got it. Yeah. You just tilt this forward. There we go. That should be a lot better for you. You want to really make sure you tighten down these bolts.

Stella: So, you say we can get custom seats too for these bikes?

Dustin: Well, not custom, but I mean you can always change the seats very easily.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: There are different sizes and different materials. We go with a bucket saddle, and we're actually coming out with some different sizes of this saddle as well.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: Okay. Go ahead and try that.

Stella: Yes.

Dustin: Much better?

Stella: Okay. Yes.

Dustin: Okay. The handlebars look, are they too high for you? I think maybe. Well, how's the seat height, first and foremost? Too low?

Stella: No.

Dustin: Good?

Stella: It's fine.

Dustin: Okay. The handlebar is okay, or should I tilt them down just a little maybe?

Stella: I don't know. This has been so long. I don't know what's right.

Dustin: Okay. It looks to me like we should tilt down just a touch.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: I think you're going to feel-

Stella: Let's try what you think is right and then go from there.

Dustin: So, go ahead and ... You can move it how you ... I think like there.

Stella: Yeah. Okay.

Dustin: Yeah. It's going to relax your-

Stella: The last bike I wrote about was a beach cruiser. So, the beach cruisers are like this.

Dustin: It's about the same.

Stella: Yeah, like that.

Dustin: Yeah.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: You think you're ready?

Stella: I'm nervous. It's been too long.

Dustin: You know what we can do too? If you're a little more nervous, let's get up here a little bit just because this is a little bit of an uphill slope, and then get your wheel pointed straight. Yep. Then, if you want, just try to go all the way down and make a turn down there, it'd be a little easier than turning in this space.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: Then, let me help you here too. So, you can pedal backward there. You want to pedal right about there when you start.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: Then, just thrust it forward and go.

Stella: Woo-hoo.

Dustin: There you go.

Stella: Woo-hoo. Woo. Oh, my God.

Dustin: It's always fun to see the first time back on a bike.

Stella: Woo.

Dustin: Is it just like riding a bike?

Stella: This is nice. Oh, my God.

Dustin: Your brakes are at the hand brakes, so you can go ahead and pull those. Yeah, there you go.

Stella: I got to be smooth with this. Woo. Okay.

Dustin: Then, you can come back and stop, and then I'll get the electric on for you.

Stella: Oh, okay.

Dustin: Whatever you're comfortable with stopping-wise, we can always turn the bike around.

Stella: Woo.

Dustin: Okay. Now, you can stay on, and I'm going to walk you through it. So, here's your power button. As I said, you have five levels of assistance. One, two, three, four, five. You can change that while you're riding if you're comfortable doing it. If not, you can leave it in one for now. When you do the throttle on this bike, you just have to have that in one, and you're going to get the full power output of the throttle. So, these numbers don't really dictate the power output of the throttle but don't do the throttle this time. Just do the pedal assist.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: So, why don't you get your wheel straight to the ... and then I would go all the way to the end or at least make a turn around there so you can really pedal. Now, you're going to feel a jolt. When it kicks on, you're going to feel when that pedal-assist comes on. So, you can keep pedaling, or you can take the assistance and let it coast, whatever you're comfortable with. So, maybe, yeah. So, just go ahead and go for it.

Stella: Like that? Okay. Woo-hoo. Woo-hoo. Woo-hoo.

Dustin: What do you think?

Stella: Oh, my God.

Dustin: Okay, so don't pedal anymore.

Stella: Okay.

Dustin: Just go ahead, and you'll have enough power, yeah, just bring it in to stop.

Stella: Okay. Okay.

Dustin: Is the power nerve-wracking a little bit?

Stella: A little bit.

Dustin: Yeah?

Stella: For me, I would keep it at one.

Dustin: You were in one, right?

Stella: I would keep it here. I wouldn't go ... It was exhilarating, but I would keep it at one because of a little bit of pedal and just zoom.

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Stella: So, one is enough for me. That was good.

Dustin: It's pretty powerful.

Stella: It's good when you want to rest.

Dustin: Yep.

Stella: You just let it do its thing.

Dustin: Let it do the work. Yeah.

Stella: Let it carry me.

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah, yeah.

Stella: Oh, my God.

Dustin: I think it's important for people at home when you're searching for an e-bike, this is why I want to show different riders and different weights. Stella's 270 pounds, and she's saying level one is giving her way more. Actually, all of our riders today, so far, we've had our riders at 270, 340, and 400, all three have said that level one has really been almost enough, so it's interesting to hear.

Stella: It goes to seven, you said?

Dustin: It goes up to five, but it also has-

Stella: It goes to five.

Dustin: ... seven gears for the bike. So, you can go ... If you really want to start going faster and faster, you can shift up a gear, but yeah. So, now, if you want, here, I'm going to get the bike straight for you. I want you to try the throttle. So, this one, when you get going, stop pedaling and just push with your thumb right here. Just you can get a ... Don't do it right now, but when you're moving, you can do that instead of pedaling. Just use that the whole way. It's just like a motorcycle.

Stella: This gives it more power?

Dustin: Yes. So, you won't have to pedal at all. You'll just do that, and that'll be like the throttle basically, a motorcycle. So, pedal to get going, and then you can stop pedaling and use that to keep you rolling.

Stella: Okay. Whoa.

Dustin: What do you think?

Stella: Wee.

Dustin: Do you like the throttle?

Stella: I like that. Better control. Oh, my God.

Dustin: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Stella: Okay. Okay,

Dustin: Cool.

Stella: Yeah. Oh.

Dustin: So, you can really-

Stella: So, it's on two. It was on two.

Dustin: Oh, that was the miles per hour.

Stella: Oh, okay.

Dustin: Yeah. That's how fast you're going, and then this is your assistance.

Stella: I like the throttle better because I have more control.

Dustin: You can ease off or push harder.

Stella: Yeah, yes.

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah, no. I totally know what you mean. Cool.

Stella: This is sturdy.

Dustin: Yeah. All right. Well, we got Stella up and riding not only on a bike but an e-bike after 15 years, and safe to say, it was enough to power for her, and she loved it. So, let's move on to our final rider. Okay. Now, I'm here with Raya, our final rider to get back on a bike. Raya said it's been eight years, right?

Raya: Correct.

Dustin: She remembers the exact day and time that she was last on a bike. She said she was going through ongoing traffic, so we're hoping today, we're going to keep her safe. You've never ridden an electric bike?

Raya: I have never ridden an electric bike.

Dustin: Okay, cool. So, our fourth rider first time ever on an e-bike. So, go ahead and get on the bike, and we'll get it all set up for you. Oh, and remind us of your height and your weight for everyone at home.

Raya: Yes. My height is 5'3".

Dustin: Okay.

Raya: I weigh 326 pounds.

Dustin: Perfect. Okay. So, how does that feel?

Raya: That feels good.

Dustin: Height-wise?

Raya: Yeah.

Dustin: Because I have the seat all the way down for you.

Raya: I think this is-

Dustin: You feel comfortable? Feel good? Feel safe?

Raya: I feel sturdy.

Dustin: Okay. Handlebars?

Raya: They feel good.

Dustin: Let me loosen this bolt, and you can just get a sense of if you want it lower.

Raya: I feel like that's good.

Dustin: Okay, cool.

Raya: I love how adjustable everything is.

Dustin: Yeah, it's definitely important. Okay. All right. So, that's it. I've got you in level one. We'll just get you riding the normal bike.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: If you want, keep rolling up a little bit because you're still on a little bit of a downhill down here.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: Yeah. Go for it. What do you think?

Raya: It's nice.

Dustin: Getting used to it?

Raya: A little bit. Yeah.

Dustin: Then, your brakes are right by your hands. If you need those, pull the levers. There you go. There you go. Do you feel comfortable? Good?

Raya: I do better than I thought I would.

Dustin: Do you want to take another lap before we do the electric? Or do you think you're ready for it?

Raya: I think I'm ready for it.

Dustin: Okay. Cool.

Raya: I don't know that it'll get much better than that.

Dustin: Okay, cool. All right. Okay. So, go ahead and get back on the bike.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: Alrighty. So, right here is your power.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: We're going to leave it in level one. So, that's the lowest. You have up to five. Like I've said to everyone else that you've listened to, you are going to feel the bike give you a jolt when you start pedaling. So, if you like the speed, keep pedaling. If you don't just stop, you can ride and coast it out and-

Raya: Oh, because if I pedaled, it'll go faster?

Dustin: Well, if you pedal, it'll keep assisting you. If you stop pedaling, it'll stop assisting you. So, sometimes, for a lot of people, you take a couple of pedals, and that initial jolt you get is enough to like-

Raya: Coast.

Dustin: Yeah. Take you for a little while. So, it's really up to you.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: You have to get about one turnaround with the pedals till it finally kicks in.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: So, yeah. You can pedal this backward. Here, wait. Let me see. Hold on. Take your foot off really quick. Oh, you have your leg there. That's fine. There you go. Yeah. There you go. Now, you can get in a good position.

Raya: There it is. Okay.

Dustin: Perfect.

Raya: Okay, so it's already on.

Dustin: It's already on. You're ready to go. You're going to feel it. Just go straight down to the end.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: Anything you want to say, any expression-

Raya: So, this is the first time the electric part is happening?

Dustin: Exactly.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: It's happening right now. First time ever.

Raya: It's happening right now. Okay. I can go whenever?

Dustin: Whenever.

Raya: Oh, my gosh. Oh, it feels fantastic. Oh, my gosh. Oh, this is faster than I thought.

Dustin: What do you think?

Raya: I love it. It shocked me how fast it was going.

Dustin: Again, still, just in level one.

Raya: I don't know.

Dustin: All right. Now, if you want to turn around, we'll have you try the throttle also.

Raya: How do I turn it around?

Dustin: You can come back. All right, so now, you can pedal a little bit. Go all the way to the end. So, this is your throttle. So, you can just use your thumb, and however much you push it is how much power you get. So, a little bit will give you a little. A lot will give you a lot.

Raya: Okay. How do I slow down?

Dustin: Pull the brakes.

Raya: Oh, okay. Like a regular car.

Dustin: Yeah. So, just stop pedaling.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: When you come in to stop, you don't want to pedal because you're going to have the pedal assist, which may jolt you. So, just coast into the stop, and then ease in with the brakes.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: Yeah.

Raya: Okay. Go whenever?

Dustin: All you. Go for it.

Raya: I don't know why the starting makes me the most nervous.

Dustin: I can help you if you need help getting going.

Raya: No, let me try. I can be a big girl.

Dustin: Okay.

Raya: Okay. Oh, shoot.

Dustin: Now, stop pedaling and try the throttle.

Raya: Oh, my goodness. Oh, this is like a better cycle at all.

Dustin: What do you think?

Raya: I love it.

Dustin: The throttle's pretty fun?

Raya: Yeah, the throttle's the best part.

Dustin: Feels like enough power for you, right?

Raya: Yeah. I could do that all day. Oh, my gosh, that's awesome.

Dustin: So, she's obviously loving it.

Raya: I do love it.

Dustin: So, all right. We've just now gotten all four of our riders on e-bikes for the first time. Now, we are going to take all of them and do a little ride down the street, so you can see how our electric bikes perform on a bike ride for heavier riders. So, stick around.

Okay, now, we've got everybody trained and up to speed on how to ride an e-bike. We're just going to go for a short little ride down the street, do a couple of minor hills, just minor hills, and see how everyone does. So, are we all ready?

Dustin (Rider): Yep. Let's do it.

Dustin: All right, let's do this. Okay. Here we go. So, we're going to do a downhill, testing the brakes.

Raya: The brakes are good.

Stella: Excuse me. I can't slow down.

Dustin: Use the brakes on your hands. On your hands. [inaudible 00:35:06]. Oh, let's reconvene over here. So, once you figured out the brakes, was the downhill okay?

Raya: Yes. My life flashed before my eyes, but yeah.

Dustin: Okay.

Raya: Absolutely.

Dustin: Now, what about going back up? Are you guys comfortable doing that? Not doing that?

Raya: I'll try it.

Dustin: Try it?

Adam Sartain: Yeah. Let's give it a shot.

Dustin: Okay. Just remember, if you have to stop, just get your feet down on the ground. The other thing is you're going to want to be in ... We'll just try to get up the first hill first. So, you're going to want to be in five on that number.

Adam Sartain: Okay.

Dustin: You can either do it now and then be ready, or you could click it up right when we get to the bottom of the hill. Yeah. I would do it now. You all should be still on level one, right? Gear one. Sorry. Gear one.

Adam Sartain: Right, right, right.

Raya: Yeah. I don't know the difference between speed and gear.

Dustin: Sorry, I'm confusing.

Adam Sartain: The speed's on this side.

Dustin: This is the pedal assistance, should be in five.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: Then, that should be in one, so you're good.

Raya: Okay.

Dustin: We'll go ahead and tackle this hill. Okay, here we go.

Dustin (Rider): We got it. We got it.

Dustin: Yeah. So, tell me what you just said.

Adam Sartain: Normally, I'd have to stand on a hill like that, and just ... I did not have to stand the entire time.

Dustin: Yeah. So, you felt the motor help.

Adam Sartain: I had to pedal a little bit, but yeah.

Dustin: You made it.

Stella: I actually never have made that.

Raya: That's a pretty-

Dustin: That's a decent little hill, right?

Adam Sartain: Yeah. That is a decent little hill.

Dustin: Cool. You did it. Did you think you could?

Raya: Not at all. That was amazing. Not even a little bit.

Dustin: That's awesome.

Raya: It is awesome.

Dustin: Stella, what'd you think?

Stella: That was hard going up that hill. I needed the power.

Dustin: Yeah, but did it help you?

Raya: No. Literally needed it.

Stella: It helped a lot.

Dustin: Dustin, you did it. What do you think? Easy? Hard?

Dustin (Rider): Definitely felt like going up a hill.

Dustin: Do you think you would've made that without the motor?

Dustin (Rider): Probably not. Would've been pushing it to get there without the pedal assisting the engine behind it.

Dustin: Did you have to stop at all or not?

Dustin (Rider): No, I was able to keep going.

Dustin: Cool. So, you can feel the assistance, and it was better than not having it obviously.

Dustin (Rider): 100%. 100%.

Adam Sartain: ……………

Raya: Oh, my God.

Dustin: So, we all made it. Okay. We just completed our short little ride, maybe about a mile or two, but we did tackle a hill, and everyone made it up. So, we're back here. So, let's get everyone's final thoughts. So, Raya, what do you think about EVRYjourney e-bike and just e-bikes in general?

Raya: Okay. Well, for one, I haven't been on a bike in forever, I literally could never have gone up the hill on a regular bike. Not even a little bit. So, the fact that I made it up at all is wild. So, I mean, I really love it. Going down the hill was absolutely a blast. I definitely learned how to use the brakes. There are two of them, not just one.

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah.

Raya: So, I learned a lot, but it really was thrilling.

Dustin: Cool.

Raya: I really love it. Yeah.

Dustin: I want to say too, I have a tendency to push our first riders a little bit more than maybe generally comfortable with, but we got, I mean literally going from not riding an e-bike to tackling some hills, so good job and glad you liked it.

Raya: Thank you.

Dustin: Well, thanks. Adam, what do you think?

Adam Sartain: It was incredible. I was going downhill. I was a bit worried that the brakes wouldn't hold, but they held. They did just fine. They did what they were supposed to do, and going up, I remembered back when I used to ride a bike and going uphill, I would have to stand and pedal up even the shallowest of hills, but this, that last bit of the hill, I didn't pedal at all. That was incredible. It was just on the throttle. I mean, I was at the full level five, but still. Yeah, it was great.

Dustin: Awesome. Glad you enjoyed it.

Adam Sartain: Yep.

Dustin: Stella, what did you think?

Stella: It was fantastic. I mean, going up the hill, I appreciate that I get to rest and go full throttle and get up that hill safely.

Dustin: So, you used the full throttle on? Okay.

Stella: Yes, going up the hill. That was great for me because when you need to rest, you need to rest, but you need to keep going.

Dustin: Yep.

Stella: So, I really appreciate that.

Dustin: Awesome. This is more than 15 years, right, on a bike?

Stella: Yes.

Dustin: You did great. You did great. All right. Dustin, bringing up the rear here, what did you think?

Dustin (Rider): Yeah. Like everyone else has been saying, hills are hills. They're hard to tackle. The last time I did a hill on a regular bike, I was much lighter and much younger, so I don't know that that would've happened this time without the assist. I mean, you're still working up against the hill, so either you or the bike's putting in the work, but it felt a lot more manageable than I thought it was going to be when I saw it on the way going down.

Dustin: What did you think about the overall power for you, your weight, your height, everything like that?

Dustin (Rider): It felt great. Honestly, I'd love to be able to open this up without navigating around a group of people because I was trying to be mindful, so I didn't run into anybody too, but I mean, it feels great. It feels pretty adaptable. The range is really good. So, if you want to take it slow, you can, or if you decide you want to open it up and see what it can do as I did at a couple of points, you could do that too. It feels really solid. It's a great experience.

Dustin: Cool. Glad you liked it. All right, well. there you have it. Our riders ranging in weight from about 250 to 400 pounds all made it up a hill. All thought it was more than enough power even on level one on the flat ground. Now, like Dustin over here, he wants to open it up on some flat ground on level five, which may be after this, we'll give him a chance to really go out there and have some fun, but ... and don't forget, that's the EVRYjourney 500-watt e-bike available on our website, sixthreezero.com.
