Electric Bike Displays - What You Need to Know: EBike Displays How They Work & Which is the Best

Different eBike displays, how to use them, how to operate them, stick around. Hey, everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and eBike industry. Today I'm going to show you some different eBike displays and controls and how they all work and how they function. But before we get into it, hit the subscribe button below. Stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero. Be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we do, and of course new product releases. All right. There are lots of different displays of eBikes out there and some different controls. I just want to walk you through three different ones we have here on our Sixthreezero eBikes and eTrikes. We've got two of our eTrikes here, one of our eBikes is a simple step through. You can find these all linked in the description if you want to check them out. But let me walk you through them here.

Now the way an eBike functions is pretty much the same across the board in terms of how they look and work, but there's a little bit of difference to some of the different displays. So if you want to come over here, we'll just start right here. Now, it doesn't matter if the display is small or large. In most cases, you're going to be able to do the same thing on all these eBikes. So it's just different ways of pushing keys, things like that. So pretty cut and dry, there's a power button on this display. You hold that, it turns on. You have your battery life, your pedal assist level, miles per hour, and your trip odometer here. And you can see, you can also click here, and flip through some other settings. That's showing you your max speed, your average speed. Now we haven't ridden anywhere, so it's not going to show anything, the time that you've ridden on your last ride, your watt power output.

Now this would only be functional while you're riding. You can see where this is your plus-minus for your pedal assist levels that you have located here. And here, you could hold this down if you had a light. We don't have a light wired into this model. That would turn on here. But everything you can do on these displays can be done on the other displays. Again, it's the appearance. There may be some other little small features here and there, but that's it. And then you have your throttle here. Now all of our ebikes use a thumb throttle. There are also twist throttles. We have two variations of the thumb throttle. You can see this one right here and I'll show you a different one over there. Got some strong wind today.

So again, I like the smaller displays in some scenarios because it's not bulky and doesn't take up a lot of space. Here's another one right here. This is the M5 display. Now on this one, you can see you hold the middle button down right here and your display turns on. This is a center mount, so two of these other ones are center mounts. You have your battery up here, your speed, your pedal assist level, and your odometer. And you can see your trip here. This is your voltage on the battery. This is your currency. This is the current time. So we've had it turned on for 25 seconds and that's your total odometer. So like on this trike, we've ridden 43 miles and that's your trip odometer. So again, it's a nice display if you like a center mount. The only thing with the center mounts is it takes away from mounting anything else right there. A lot of times baskets do go on the center mount here. In this situation we have a basket mounted down here, so that's not going to be an issue.

So, yeah, we can just turn that off and hold that down. Now, moving on to last but not least, this is a pretty common display as well. Now again, here are your pedal assist controls. You have the power button right here in the middle. You turn that on. You have your pedal assist level, your miles per hour. You have your battery up here. You have the distance of your last ride. And the same thing, you can cycle through. Here's the total odometer, so you can see we have 7.3 miles on here. In total, we rode for an hour and seven minutes. And your outside temperature, the temperature of the motor actually, is on there as well. And there's your max speed on your last ride, your voltage, your wattage output, and back to square one. Now this little symbol right here means the brake is engaged, so we have the parking brake on there as well. So the display, it's not going to affect really how you use your eBike. It's going to function the same. Right?

It doesn't mean if you have a bigger display, the eBike and the motor's going to perform any differently or better. It's just simply not true. Now, if you like a certain display or a bigger display, you can also upgrade displays. That's a complete option. You could change out displays if you should see fit. That may be a complicated process for some of us, so it might not be something you want to jump into. But again, different displays, and different eBikes, all provide benefits in one way or another. Smaller, sometimes better, less inconspicuous, bigger could be better if you want to see all the things much easier. But again, it doesn't mean that the eBike is going to perform any differently. Functionality is the same. You have a power button. You have an up and down arrow for your pedal assist levels. You can cycle through to see the same information, distance on your ride, distance on your last ride, max speed. All of that good stuff is in there.

Now the last thing I was just going to point out is this is another thumb throttle right here. So this is more of a downward push motion versus the one or the other One was more of a forward push motion. So little different control there. So those are some of the displays that exist out there on eBikes. Any other questions at all, please comment below or email us at theteam@sixthreezero.com or call us at 310-982-2877. Again, find these bikes linked on our website. If you're in the market for an eBike, you don't know what you're looking for, take our proprietary body fit quiz on our website. Answer a few questions about your body and your life, and we'll recommend the perfect eBike for you.

In addition to that, we have a 30-day test ride on your eBike policy. If you don't love your eBike in the first 30 days, send it back. No questions asked. No money out of your pocket. In addition to that one-year warranty on all of our eBikes, so if anything goes wrong in the first year we'll take care of it. Lastly, join our Facebook Pedalers group. We have thousands of riders there. Ask them questions before you purchase or talk to them about any issues you have on your eBike. They can help answer it, I'm sure. Then once you have an eBike, post your photos there. Meet other riders. It's tons of fun. So thanks for sticking around and don't forget, it's your journey, your experience. Enjoy the ride.
