Experiencing The EBike Rickshaw as a Passenger: Up Hills, Downhill & 20mph Top Speed on this E Trike

Updated On: December 15, 2023

Dustin: Today I'm going to tell you what it's like to be a passenger on the EvryJourney Electric Rickshaw. Stick around.

Hey, everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and Ebike industry, and today I'm going to tell you and give you commentary about what it's like to be a passenger on the EvryJourney E-Rickshaw. I got Colton up here driving. He's 6'2". I'm 5'10", 225. He's 180 pounds. So we've got 400 pounds on the rickshaw. I'm usually driving, if you've watched any of the other videos, but I'm going to be a passenger today. He's going to take me around a little bit, up some hills, and I'm just going to tell you what it's like experiencing this in the back.

All right, Colton, let's go. So if you're interested in the rickshaw, by the way, you can find it linked in the description below. So I will say, it's comfortable back here. I could make room for probably a little child next to me or a smaller adult. It'd be hard to fit two of me back here. But no, it's comfortable. Yeah, nice breeze. And I've got my seatbelt on too.

Yeah, you can go up to level five if you want. Whatever you want. You want to trust your driver. So we're in level five pedal assist right now. How fast are we going?

Colton: 13 miles.

Dustin: 13? Cool. A better way to get around, so you get a nice breeze. All right, now we got this bigger hill right here to the left, Colton's going to take me up. You probably want to get into gear one.

Colton: Oh.

Dustin: You just shifted up. There you go. Yep. Tell you what, this is great for me. Are you in pedal assist five right now?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: And in gear one?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: Cool. This is the way to ride, right here.

Speaker 3: Do you want to wave over to the side?

Dustin: How are you doing?

Colton: Good.

Dustin: Might have to give a little more oomph on the pedaling. There you go. You want to just make a left at this next street and take me down here?

Colton: Sure.

Dustin: Or you can... Well, you can keep going straight and then turn up there, or get in the left turn lane. All right.

Colton: All righty.

Dustin: Man, it's almost like you're doing no work back here. Feels good to get to the top, doesn't it?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: You don't feel unsafe back here. You feel very balanced.

Colton: Yeah, it's good.

Dustin: Use the... just that one. No, you're good. Or, yeah, you can go to the end if you want.

Colton: [inaudible 00:04:27].

Dustin: When we make a U-turn up here at the cul-de-sac, why don't you open it up on the straightaway here?

Colton: Okay.

Dustin: See how fast we get going. Try to put it in pedal assist five, and then just crank as fast as you can go.

Colton: Gear one?

Dustin: Huh?

Colton: In gear one?

Dustin: No. You probably want to get it up to gear seven. You got a slight incline here, so it's going to make it a little more challenging for you, but... All right, we're going to open it up a little bit, so try to keep up. Here we go. Are you in five?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: Gear seven? How fast are we going?

Colton: 14.

Dustin: 14?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: And we're going a little bit uphill right here. All right, we can cruise back to the downhill. Maybe we can open it up on the straightaway in the... Where are we at right now?

Colton: 19.

Dustin: 19, downhill. All right, let's go as fast as we can on this. Once you get around the curve, see if we can hit 20 on flat ground.

Colton: Okay.

Dustin: I'm loving this. This is comfy. I don't feel at any point like I'm going to fall out, or... All right, straight away. Let's see what we can do here. Get me to 20. Get me to 20. Where are we at?

Colton: 16. 18.

Dustin: 18?

Colton: Yeah.

Dustin: That's pretty good. Feels great. I Love it. How'd that feel steering?

Colton: Pretty good. Yeah.

Dustin: All right. Well, we just made a quick trip around the neighborhood there. I mean, this thing is comfortable. Honestly, I don't get a lot of rides on the back. I'm usually steering. But the seatbelt stayed tight. I at no point felt like I was uneven back here in the back. The hill for Colton, I'm 225 pounds. That's a pretty big hill. I would say it's not easy, but you're not getting up that hill without the motor. And for me, it felt great. Honestly, it was comfortable. We got a good breeze here today. This is honestly the best way to enjoy the outdoors, especially if you want to go with someone else. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
