An electric folding e-trike that fits in your hatchback. Stick around to see it.
Hey everyone, I'm Dustin and I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to show you a folding e-trike that will fit in the trunk of your hatchback car or SUV. Before I get into it though, hit that subscribe button below. Stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero. Be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we're doing, of course, new product releases like the folding e-trike here. All right, this folding e-trike is the Sixthreezero easy transit folding e-trike, which is linked in the description below. You can also find it on our website at sixthreezero.com. This is a great little e-trike. 750 watts of power, also folds up, so you've got a lot of power riders up to 350 pounds. It also has 16-inch wheels, so you have a very low step-through height for easy mounting and dismounting.
These handlebars are easily adjustable up and down right here with the quick release. You can pull these up, and pull them down, and you also have the folding capability, as well. Now, if you want to see other videos on this, check out our YouTube channel. We've got tons of other videos, test rides, you name it, of this folding e-trike. I'm not going to go through all the details today, but I'm going to show you how to get it into the trunk of your car.
Okay, the first step, remove your seat. Now, this has a double seat post actually for accommodating varying heights. You can easily take that out with a quick release and we'll just set that to the side and then remove your battery. The total weight of this e-trike with the battery is about 72 pounds. The battery weighs about seven pounds, so it's taking it down to about 64 pounds there. Now, it sounds a little bit heavy, but the good thing is on the back here, we have a nice crossbar that can make the loading quite easy. So, let's go ahead and get started. Now, to load it in, I'm not going to fold it up in advance. And we also have the front and rear basket here, which adds weight.
You could remove the baskets if you don't need them. It comes with easy transit, but right here, we have a bar on the back if you can see that. Now, gripping this makes lifting pretty easy. So, to reduce the distance of travel here, I'm going to go ahead and back this right up to the car. Now, we've put some blankets down here just to protect the car. And from here, I'm going to reach my one hand right here on this bar and the other hand right here, and I'm going to lift and get the wheels in. Now, you can see that was fairly easy, and from here, I'm going to bring the bike back. Be careful of your handlebars. Now, I'm just going to set it here for a second. At this point, if you can see right here if you want to come in a little closer, we have our latch for the handlebars to fold. So, we'll just pull that down. Now, at this point, we can get the bike pretty much into the car.
All right. Okay. So, depending on your hatchback model, you may have a higher hatchback. If you do, in that situation, you could just probably push the trike all the way in. We only need about another two inches of clearance here, but that's where the folding capability is going to come in handy. So, right here on the frame, you have your locking mechanism. Now on our production model, this is a silver piece. In principle, it's the same. You just unlock, and unhinge that. And on the production model, you have to lift this to let it fold. Now, in this case, you don't. So, I'm going to get this as deep into the car as possible and then I'm going to start to fold at which point, this will slide under like so, okay.
Okay, there we go. Let me just get that. Perfect. Okay. And now, you can go ahead and put your blanket in and close it. Now, I'll show you how to remove it. So, from here, we're going to bring this out, and let's bring it right here before we bring it all the way out and lock this backup. Put your locking mechanism in and then I'm going to back this up a little bit. I'm going to actually get my handlebars in place while I hold the wheel. All right. Now from here, I'm going to try to transition my hands back to where they were. So, I'm going to get this hand, I'm just going to keep on the handlebars here. Now, I'm going to work it down to the frame, and then I'm going to go back right here and lift out. And you can see once you get your hands in this position, it's pretty easy to manipulate. And from there, we've done it. We've loaded it in.
Now, again, this is a pretty small rear-opening hatchback, something a little bit higher. And I'm going to go ahead and measure this clearance for you. That way, you can check it against the hatchback you have at home. So, on the hatchback that we loaded into, the width is 41 inches, and the height of the hatch is 29 and a half. So, it's 29 and a half from the actual trunk to the top here. And on the trike here, let's take a look at when it's folded, and what the highest point is. So, let's go ahead and fold this down. So, it's going to be like that, and it looks like the highest point is right here. So, it's right here. So, that's right at 29 and a half inches. And that's why we had to fold this down right here. And then when we folded it, we were able to lean it down just a touch, which got this piece in, then it brought this lower. Yes.
So now, that piece is 27 inches. Now, this piece popped up, but once you get past that, that's when the roof rises to be about 30 inches, 31 inches. So, if you have a trunk or an SUV or anything with a bigger opening than that, the easy transit will fit with no problem, and the folding is quite simple. There we go. Go ahead and clamp that back. Put my lock in place.
