How to Bring EXTRA Electric Bike BATTERIES on Your Ride | E-Bike Questions

Hey guys, Dustin here, CEO of sixthreezero. Today I'm going to show you how to bring extra e-bike batteries on your ride.

All right, so today I'm going to show you how to bring extra e-bike batteries on your ride. But before I do, hit that subscribe button below, stay in touch with us here at sixthreezero, and be the first to know about all the giveaways we're doing for bikes, e-bikes, and accessories, and of course new product content, new releases, and other vlogs.

All right, so you're going to go on an e-bike ride and you want to bring extra batteries. I've been there, I've wanted to bring extra batteries. It can be important if you're going to go for 30-mile rides or 20-mile and above rides, having those extra batteries is great because it gives you peace of mind. Even if you have a very large capacity battery, sometimes it's just not enough. If you ride really hard, go up against big hills, you're towing things behind you. So there are...

So I want to show you the sixthreezero e-bikes. This is our sixthreezero women's evryjourney e-bike. And on the back here I have our panier. So there are two ways that I really suggest bringing extra batteries. Now, if your battery is the same shape as ours... So I'm going to show you how to bring two batteries, each of these batteries weighs eight pounds. The weight of other e-bike companies' batteries may vary and also the shape and size of the battery may vary as well. The beauty of the sixthreezero battery is it's pretty slim and it can fit into a variety of bags, depending on how large the size the battery is of the e-bike that you may own or are looking at. It quite honestly may not be possible to bring an extra battery. Some are very large square shapes that could be substantially heavier than our battery, and they may be awkward to fit into a bag.

So I'm going to show you how easy it is to bring extra batteries on the sixthreezero bags. Now we have another bag that I'll bring out here in a second and I'll show you how to utilize that one. But with this pannier bag, it's easy. And I'm going to show you're barely going to notice the weight, especially if you using the pedal assist and you can buy these extra batteries on our website for 350. Now with the pannier, you can literally just slip it right in and boom. It's in the side here and I'm just going to buckle it in. And I'm going to take... Now that's one battery, so you can leave the other side open for anything else you'd want to bring with you. But I am going to show you now, that we're going to put another battery in on this side.

Okay. Let's go ahead. And we're just going to buckle that in. Now you can also just pull these down if you want to tighten that a little bit. Now, if you were to look right now at my e-bike, you wouldn't even be able to tell, do a little circle for you here, that I have two extra batteries in here.

And now the beauty of this on an electric bike is with the pedal-assist mode, you don't even notice. So I've just added 16 pounds of weight. So in the scheme of things, not a big deal, I'm 220 pounds, essentially I just increased the load to 236. If you're 150 pounds, you've just increased the load to 166. In the scheme of things, it's really not that big of a deal to add that weight. And you're not going to notice it when you're riding because you're already most likely using the pedal-assist feature or you're using the throttle. So for me, it has zero effect on my ability to control the bike and doesn't affect my balance at all. And it's not noticeable in the straightaways, because again, I've got the pedal-assist so the bike is doing the work for me.

And then this is now, we've now basically increased the range of this bike from 30 to 50 miles with pedal assist to 90 to 150 miles and with full throttle. Now we're talking about 45 miles to 90 miles range. Now it's a big range obviously because depending on the terrain and the hills and things in the rider weight and the load, the ranges are going to vary, but we've just increased the weight.

And in the case of sixthreezero then, swapping these batteries is very simple. Let me go ahead and demonstrate. You've got your key here so we can pull this one out and we can just go ahead and pull out our new battery. Put this battery right here and we will slide this one in. Oops. Let me actually put this battery down here. Okay and just flip that up so I can see what's going on here. Okay, now it's in and we'll go ahead and just put this battery in here. There we go. I should have got a stopwatch on this. It's like a pit stop. Okay, now that's already in there and now my bike's back on and we're off, just like that. So really is beneficial if you're going to go for long-range rides.

And you might be saying, well, you've just now taken up your panier space. Well, a couple of things. One, we actually have an additional pocket here on the sixthreezero panier. You can put stuff in here. Also, there is a little bit of space still in here to put some few flat things. And then of course you can also add an additional bag up here on the front, which I have. These are sort of the mini panniers here. Put your phone, put your keys, and put your wallet in there. So in my opinion, this is the best way to bring extra e-bike batteries with you. Like I said, I don't think I'll bring it out today, but we have another rear rack bag. You can find it on our website, which sits on the top here. You could easily slide one battery into that as well. So those are great options to bring the extra batteries with you.
