Is assembling an e-bike different from assembling a regular bike? Stick around to find out. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. And today we're going to answer the question, is assembling an e-bike different from assembling a regular bike? Before we get into it though, hit that subscribe button below, stay in touch with us here at Sixthreezero, and be the first to know about all the new content we're putting out, giveaways we're doing, and of course new product releases. All right, let's say you're considering buying an e-bike online, or you've already bought an ebike online, or you've bought a regular bike online before and you're considering buying an e-bike and doing the assembly yourself. Now the question is, is assembling an e-bike different from assembling a regular bike? And the answer is no. It's not that much different. Now, one thing people may or may not know if you're in the market for buying an e-bike online is that all of the electrical components of an e-bike are going to come preassembled.

Now, the most you would have to do would possibly be to plug a few things in, a couple of connectors that have arrows that would show you exactly where they would plug in. Sixthreezero has a few tricycle models where you have to plug in the front wheel, but it's nothing like soldering wires together. It's a simple actual plug-looking mechanism that plugs in. It's very easy. Very easy to follow. Very intuitive. Also, everything with the battery is contained here. The most you would have to do is slide your battery in depending on the e-bike you've bought. That's very easy. With a simple turn of a key, your battery can pull in and out, but you're not going to be doing any actual mechanical wiring or anything crazy like that. So the reality is then once all that is done, you're just left with the same components that you would get on a regular bike.

As an example, this simple step through an e-bike from Sixthreezero. If you were to buy our regular version of this, everything else would be the same. Now, except depending on the spec level you bought, we would have the disc brakes on the e-bikes. We also could have the disc brakes on the regular bike or we could have caliper brakes with the brake pads. Again, depending on the spec level, and trim level, but on all the e-bikes, we're going to put the disc brakes to provide the most stopping power possible. So other than that, though, you're left with the same components to assemble; the seat, the pedals, the handlebars, and the front wheel. Most e-bikes are going to come to what we believe to be 85% assembled, which means the rear wheel will be attached, the front crank is attached, so you're just left with putting in the seat, the handlebars, the wheel, and the pedals.

The frame is all going to be intact. And at that point, it's pretty basic. Now, if your e-bike has gears like this one does... Now, the gears are not part of the electrical components. The gears are just part of the standard bicycle part. And if you have your brakes, now, adjusting and tuning the brakes and adjusting the gears are two things. Now, these are going to be on regular bikes as well. They're also on e-bikes. On e-bikes, tuning and adjusting your brakes is the most important part of the assembly process. You want to make sure your brakes are perfectly adjusted, you've got ample brake pad and your bike can stop properly. If that's something you're not comfortable doing yourself, have a professional do it or take it to a mechanic. But again, that's not necessarily something different than a regular bike.

A regular bike's going to have brakes as well. You're going to want to adjust those as well. Just on an e-bike, you're going to be traveling most likely at faster speeds than you would on a standard bike. So it is just imperative that your brakes work properly. But other than that, all the other components and things that are left on an e-bike will be the same as on a regular bike. So if you're comfortable assembling a regular bike, I'm pretty sure you can assemble an e-bike as well. A lot of e-bike companies, not a lot, but some do offer 100% assembly delivered to you. In that circumstance though, you're probably going to pay a little bit more for shipping. The idea with the 85% assembly for most manufacturers is we can get it into a box small enough to reduce shipping costs, but still ship it in a way that the customer can assemble it without it being too, too difficult. Right?

So that's why things like the front wheel, handlebar, seat, and pedals are doable for most customers at home themselves. But again, it's important that the brakes are adjusted properly on your e-bike. But if you're considering buying an e-bike online, just know the assembly is going to be the same as a standard bike. You're not going to have to do any crazy battery configurations or anything like that, so you don't have to worry about that. If you have any other questions, comments, or thoughts on the topic, please put them below or email us, at theteam@sixthreezero.com, or call us at 310-982-2877. You can find this simple step through e bike on our website, sixthreezero.com. If you're in the market for an e-bike, and you don't know what you're looking for, take our proprietary body fit quiz, answer a few questions about your body and your life, and we'll recommend the perfect e-bike for you.

In addition to that, we have a 30-day Test Drive Your E-bike policy. If you don't love it in 30 days, send it back. No questions asked, no money out of your pocket. And we'll have a one-year warranty. If anything goes wrong in the first year, we'll make sure your bike gets taken care of. Lastly, we have a Facebook Peddlers group with thousands of riders. Go pop in there before you purchase from Sixthreezero. You can talk to existing riders, and see how they like their e-bikes. Get comfortable purchasing online before you make that purchase by asking questions. Then once you have your e-bike, post in the group, make friends, and track your rides on our app. It's tons of fun. So thanks for sticking around, and don't forget, it's your journey, your experience. Enjoy the ride.
