Is This the Best E Trike for Seniors? 75 Year Old Is In Love With this Recumbent Electric Tricycle

Dustin: All right, we got Fred here. 20-year Army vet, or how long have we been?

Fred: 20 years and a day.

Dustin: 20 years and a day. And…

Fred: Hi.

Dustin: He's going to take our Simple Glide Electric e-trike for a ride here. Never been on it before, right?

Fred: No, nope.

Dustin: But you've ridden electric tricycles.

Fred: Yes, I've got about 10 years with electric trikes.

Dustin: Oh, wow. So, yeah, it's 500 watts. Motors in the front hub, 15 amp hour battery down here. Your power button, I don't know if on the battery, is on this side over here. So you gotta hold that down. The battery turns on. Charging is down there. Handlebar.

Fred: That light comes on?

Dustin: Yeah. And then from there, you can, this is foldable if you wanna fold these down. 

Fred: Okay.

Dustin: And yeah, you can have a seat.

Fred: All right.

Dustin: Ready to do this?

Fred: Ready. Let's go.

Dustin: Let's do this. You can lead the way.

Fred: I don't know if you can keep up with it.

Dustin: I'll try. Fred's 75. Ha ha ha ha! Man, you are cruising.

Fred: I pedal all the way up.

Dustin: Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

Fred: And I wanted to see how it would work on my back.

Dustin: Uh-huh.

Fred: For my posture, it was excellent, and I was able to maintain a speed, I could feel the motor assist and getting more as I pedal.

Dustin: Yeah.

Fred: It was great.

Dustin: You were cruising.

Fred: I have a mod easy with a sidecar. It doesn't have these locking brakes. It's dangerous because it rolls on you. I'm able to sit here and set these brakes, and it doesn't go. Safety features are much needed.

Dustin: That's cool. All right, let's test the brakes and go back downhill here. 

Fred: All right, we're testing.

Dustin: What'd you think of the braking?

Fred: It's excellent. Again, I'm used to the sidecar and it doesn't break like this.

Dustin: It's comfortable, isn't it?

Fred: It is sweet. It's like a Harley in the trike industry for a 75-year-old. I'm in love.

Dustin: Are you 75?

Fred: I'm 75.

Dustin: Wow. You look great.

Fred: Well, that's because of 20 years in the Army and they couldn't kill me, so I said, what the heck? Let me go on electric bikes and see if I can die there.

Dustin: Cool. Well, there's Fred on his first ride on the Simple Glide.

Fred: It's wonderful.
