A step-through e-bike that can go on the road and off the road. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today I'm going to show you the Simple Step-Thru a 500-watt e-bike that can go on the road and off the road. All right, so right here, I've got the Simple Step-Thru e-bike. There are two colors not pictured here, which are our cream and our navy. This is an electric bike with a 500-watt rear hub motor and, a 10.4 amp hour battery. So you're going to be able to reach speeds of up to 22 miles an hour in pedal assist. And 20 with the throttle and a range of up to 50 miles, depending on the terrain, the rider weight, and also your usage of the throttle and the pedal assist levels. Now, the cool feature of this e-bike is this low step-through frame, which is just about 10 inches, which makes mounting and dismounting safe and easy, which I know is a big, important factor for many riders because you can step right through and slide onto the seat. Once you're on the seat, you sit in a comfortable, ergonomic riding position where your back is upright. There's no forward lean. Back's upright. You're looking out. You've got complete control of the bike. And again, it's easy on your body and feels great. Now, if you want to come in closer here, I can show you you've got your display right here. And you hit your power button. And right up here, you will see your battery life. Your pedal assist levels. And you have up to five levels of assistance. Five give you the most amount of motor assistance and one gives you the least. You also have a throttle here that you can press and you can use that and not pedal at all if you'd like. So that's an option as well. Now the benefit of that is you can give your legs a break also helpful in some hills I'm going to take you along on a ride and walk you through how I utilize everything on this e-bike. Now front and rear disc brakes as well. And for max stopping power, your battery is easy to remove if you want to charge it on or off the bike, totally up to you. You've also got a seven-speed derailleur here. Now this is just like on a normal bicycle. You have gears one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Seventh gear is going to be for usually flat ground high speeds, but you'll see how I utilize it on hills as well. And then the first gear is for big hills. If you need the pedaling to be easy, you've got that gear. So not all e-bikes have a gears like that, have a gear ratio like that. Many are single speeds. We like putting the seven speeds on them.
So you've got that variance and you can match your your gear to your pedal assist level, because if you don't have those matched up, sometimes it feels like you're overpedaling and not getting the assistance that you want. All right. So got my Gopro here. I'm going to turn that on and we're going to take you on a little ride and show you how the Simple Step-Thru performs out on the road and trails. All right. So we're all powered on. Got it in level one assist. I like to use my throttle to get going. And we're off. Go ahead and just move my camera up a little bit. See here. There we go. All right, let's go ahead and shift this up. Okay. Now on these flat grounds, I like to be up in seventh gear and I'm only, I'm in level four. We got a really strong headwind here, but... You can see I'm up to 14 and a half miles an hour. And I'm 230 pounds. So we'll show you how we're going to perform on our first hill here. One of several. Now I'm going to put it in five to get up this hill. And take it out of there we go. Shifting down into my lower speeds, there we go. Got some pine cones here. So now I'm in first gear, level five, and again, a pretty reasonable-sized hill here. Okay, now, as I get to the top of the hill, start to shift up, match my cadence, my assist level. So now I'm in seventh gear and I'm in my level five pedal assist. Got another e-biker here. Let him go. I do shift down to another hill on our hands here. Okay. So now I'm back into first gear. You can be trailing this guy. Again, we have another decent hill here. Still holding strong on our battery. Let me go ahead and actually, there we go. I shifted up just to make it a little harder to pedal, but it got me going a little faster. All right, now I'm all the way up in seventh. And I'm cruising along in a nice little... clip now we're still going uphill if you can see and we're about to hit a massive downhill where I'm going to show you the braking capabilities. All right. Take a little break, let the throttle do the work here. Now we don't need any power. Now it's nice to have these two-inch wide tires just for stability, but they still roll smoothly on pavement and the trails. You see we're up to 24 miles an hour. I'll start breaking here in a second. 25. I'm going to ease the brakes a little bit just to check our speed. Now we have a real big downhill here. We got two bikers coming towards us. All right. All right, now we're going to enter into our hard-pack trail here. This is a lot of fun. Beautiful trail over here.
Gotta get through these crevasses. Once we get there we go. Now you gotta be careful on these sand trails. The trails have like a thin coat of dirt or dust. They can sometimes get slippery. Okay. Go ahead and turn to the here. All right so you can see once you get out here to the hard pack trail we can cruise along. Love it up here oh now if you can see kind of where we're headed. Big bump. I'll do a little throttle only here. Big hill. Poop. Okay, 15. 16. 17. Straight away here. Oh, there goes a little bunny. Almost 18, there we go. Oh boy. Again, I mean, we got a lot of bumps here, but the thicker tires absorb a lot of it just some big crevasses you can see I'm going throttle only here okay we are climbing all right good place to turn around Nice vistas. Okay. Okay, let's turn around. Head back to our home destination. The hills of San Clemente up here. Beautiful area. Okay. All right, now we're gonna be able to coast down most of the way. And then once we get out of the trails, we're gonna have another incline to contend with. Do a little pedal assist. This was a lot of fun, I'll tell you that much. Early zipping in and out of here. Going 20 miles an hour through here. You'd never suspect it on this step-through cruiser E-bike. All right, now we're at 20. Hit my brakes a little bit because we got to turn in here. And then up this hill through this crevasse. Oh, and we're up. All right. Yeah. All right, back to the smooth ground. We did it now I'm gonna go down into my first gear here for this hill it doesn't look like maybe much on camera, but it's a long, pretty steep incline here. Okay, I'm going to shift up a gear. There we go. And yeah, let's go into fourth. Now we have a strong headwind, which is making this even more challenging. And you can see we still got nearly a full battery and the battery was down a bar when we started. Oh, the wind died down a little. Okay, let's go ahead and shift up. So as this hill starts to flatten, put it into seventh, I can go a little faster. All right. Wow. I don't know if you can hear that on the microphone, but that is a stiff breeze. That's the ocean breeze right there. And honestly, the wind will affect your range because, you know, if you're pushing harder on the pedal assist, it's going to drain the battery quicker. All right. Got a little bit of a downhill here. I'm just going to ride it out. And we did go down a bar on the battery. Now, again, I'm 230 pounds. I was using this in level five most of the way and the throttle. So it's two ways to drain your battery the quickest right there.
But I wanted to go as fast as possible. Okay, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. Now you can see the disc brakes. I'm easing into them so we don't get too crazy. But you can see the disc brakes stop us with no problem. And we'll go ahead and be safe here and push our crosswalk symbol. So yeah, I felt stable, and safe at 30 miles an hour on that downhill. And the brakes stopped me absolutely no problem. Okay, another good braking opportunity here. Let's see, 25, 27, 30. Pulling my brakes. And no problem into my turn safely and easily. And let's go ahead and coast in. All right. That was a lot of fun. I only drained one bar on my battery because we started at four bars, now we're down to three. Again, I was pushing it hard up the hills, really going as fast as possible. Simple Step-Thru is an awesome e-bike. Balances nicely, turns, easy to get on and off.
