What's the difference between a step-through electric bike and a non-step-through electric bike? Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today we're gonna talk to you about the difference between a step-through e-bike and a non-step-through e-bike. What's the difference? I've got two step-through electric e-bikes the Simple step through 26 inches and the 20 inches both of these are also available in different colors you can get this one in navy black, cream, teal and this one also comes in black as well. These step-through e-bikes that have a really low step-through. There are a lot of e-bikes to choose from these days, all with differing frames, some step-through, some non-step-through. Now, what's the difference? So, you can see on both of these that they have step-through frames. These are actually the lowest step-through frames of any e-bike I've ever seen. It makes it super easy to get on and off. Now you can see the frame of the 20-inch has a 9-inch step-over height. The 26-inch version is about 10 and a half inches step-through height. The other thing is you can see right here this opening where you can literally walk through, step through, and walk through these. Same thing on the 20-inch, it's a little more condensed, so you kind of come in sideways here, but you can walk through the frame. A lot of times, people will advertise a frame as a step-through frame, and all of a sudden, you know, the bar swoops down here, and it still is difficult to step on and off that frame. So if you want something truly step-through, it's going to have to be no higher than a step-through height, I want to say... 13 inches really is a true step-through frame. The reason I say that is because I've had many riders who either have arthritis or physical limitations, and getting their foot, oftentimes even over 11 inches, can be challenging, and when you go up another inch creates even more challenges. So a step through really needs to be just that.

Where it's low enough that you actually can step through. So what's the difference between a step-through and a non-step-through? Well, there are step-through frames out there, and it's a very loose term, right? I'm saying about 13 inches. Now we have other ones that have 16-inch step-over heights. It still is low enough that you can step over. Is it a step-through? Not necessarily, right? So typically, let's just go over here to the 26-inch. The difference between a step-through and a non-step-through on a typical non-step-through is that you're going to have a top tube up here. So that tube is going to be, you know, somewhere around 28, 27, 26 inches off the ground, right? So in no way, shape, or form are you taking your leg over to get on or off? In that situation, you're going to have to swing your leg from the rear here to mount and dismount. Now, again, if you have any physical limitations, that can be a little cumbersome of a process, having to swing your leg over, especially with a heavier e-bike, may not be the most fun thing to do. So having to step through is nice. So you can see if you have a top tube up at 26 inches high and a step over height of this of 10 and a half inches, you've got a 15-and-a-half inch difference between those, which looks like this much right here, right? So that's the difference in what you're seeing between where these heights of the tubes are, and that's just a basic approach. There could be other ones where the tube is even higher. In my experience, when you get to 16 inches and above, 16, 17 inches and above. That's where more people start to struggle with the height of that tube. And again, it varies based on your physical ability, so you really have to figure out how high you can lift your leg, what's easy for you, and what creates a non-stressful circumstance so it's easy for you to mount and dismount your electric bike.

Because if it's difficult for you to mount and dismount, It's going to add a new layer of stress and make it a lot less fun when you want to get out there and go for rides. Do you have any other questions about step-through e-bikes? Reach out to us at theteam@sixthreezero.com or call us at 310-982-2877. They are awesome and easy to mount and dismount. As I said, with only a 9-inch step-over height, it's the lowest on the market, and for a 26-inch version, this one is the lowest at 10 and a half inches. So we also offer a 30-day test ride, your e-bike policy. If you don't love it in the first 30 days, send it back. No questions asked, no money out of your pocket. In addition to that, we warranty everything for one year.
