What is the best electric bike?

Hey everyone. I'm Dustin and I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today we're going to answer the question, what is the best electric bike?

All right. Let's say you are shopping around for an e-bike and you pose the question to Google: what is the best electric bike? Now there are lots of rankings out there and articles, and you see a lot of times like top 10 e-bikes, top 10 beach cruiser electric bikes, or top 10 e-bikes for mountain bikes. And there's all these lists and rankings and a lot of times it's going to vary from list to list or publication to publication. Of course, these are all opinion-based articles and rankings, and we all have certain people we trust to talk to and hear their opinions about what they think is the best product, whether it be an e-bike or any other product that is there.

Now I see the question being posed, what is the best electric bike? And it is a very difficult question to answer for a couple of different reasons. Number one, there are so many different types of riders out there and there are so many different types of riding terrains and needs, body types, conditions, just to name a few of the elements. So a broad question like what is the best electric bike is a question that really can't be answered with a simple answer that is just this electric bike. Now I'd love to tell you it's a sixthreezero electric bike. I firmly believe in our e-bikes, but I can't sit here and tell you that.

Now I could sit here and tell you that our simple step-through e-bike is the best lowest step-through e-bike, what I believe to be the best e-bike for seniors because of the easy mounting and dismounting. I do believe that Evryjourney is the most comfortable of the forward pedaling design. So I think we have e-bikes that I could say are the best in certain niche categories, but to tell you a blanket, what is the best e-bike is virtually impossible. What I suggest is if you're out there searching for an electric bike, you need to dial in what your needs are and how you are going to use your electric bike. A few of the things to focus on when it comes to an electric bike are the distance that you want to ride, the terrain you want to ride, your body weight, and then any other intangibles or other things that are most important to you.

The other thing about purchasing or claiming what is the best electric bike is you could always buy the best of anything, or not necessarily the best, but you could spend the most amount of money to think you're getting the best. Let's say you want the best car. Maybe you think that's a Ferrari or you want the best watch and you think that's a Rolex, but not necessarily buying the best of anything provides back the value that you need or want in a given moment in your life. So when I see the question or people asking, "Okay. What's the best electric bike? What's the best e-bike?" First, I want to hear how they're going to use it, and what they're going to do with it, and I like to try to match up to them not just the best e-bike, but also something that I feel is giving them value.

So it's important and I have other videos if you want to see them. I talk about more specifically the bike features, e-bike features, and different elements, and what are the different specs of the different e-bike elements and how to match that up with different riders. You can check those out on our YouTube channel as well. So when somebody tells you a certain brand or a certain model, even if it was sixthreezero is the best electric bike, my suggestion is first to ask them how they use their e-bike. So you can try to align your use case with their use case.

And if you have two different types of ways you're going to use that e-bike, then you might know right off the bat that just because they're telling me this is the best electric bike, it may not be the electric bike for me. And if you're out there looking at lists and looking at rankings and people say, this is the number one, make sure they're rating it according to how you're going to use it. So if it's the number one bike for commuting and they give a good review or have a good opinion or real-life use cases about how they've used that e-bike for commuting and it matches up specifically with how you would use your e-bike, then that might be the best e-bike for you.
