The best electric trike for seniors. Hey everyone I'm Dustin I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to show you the best electric trike for seniors. I've got the Simple Glide 500-watt recumbent e-trike. In my opinion, this is the best electric trike for seniors, and I'm going to tell you a few reasons why? Now, number one, easy mounting and dismounting, other recumbent trikes are sit-down and more lay-down. Those are great, I think, for a specific type of rider. But if you are a senior or elderly rider, getting on and off of something extremely low to the ground may be difficult. Why I like the Simple Glide is you lift the armrest and you can sit down and it's chair height, right? So getting up, like, is easy. On and off is easy. And my parents are both in their 70s and this is something that they've brought up to me. You know, you don't want to have to be down right from and then obviously too hard, too high makes it difficult as well. So sitting down like this and then right from, you can shift your body over and now you're on the pedals and riding. And at this point, you can put your armrests down and you are very secure and stable here. That is another thing I see with a lot of the test rides I've done. When you have a smaller seat like on a non-recumbent trike, there's this possibility of slipping off and sliding off the seat. With this big of a seat, you are really cradled and secure in the seat. Then when you're ready to get off, slide it over, and easily stand up. Now you'll also see the very low stepover height of the frame, so getting on and off is very easy. Now, you've got a 500-watt battery with the front hub motor it is very powerful. You can go up hills around town and you can opt for either using the pedal assist or the throttle. And let me tell you how to turn on your battery. Okay. So, on your handlebars, and again, we have other videos if you want to see this, there is a throttle right here you twist. The cool part about this is that if you don't want to pedal, this can be your mobility device where you're utilizing the throttle to get around town without pedaling at all, just like this. Now, the other really cool feature is you have the reverse. So, when you talk about how this can double as a mobility device, you can go backwards, and forwards. If you're somebody that already uses an electric scooter or some kind of mobility device, but you've wanted to get exercise for your legs, this is a great option because now when you decide to pedal, you can, but if you don't want to, you can utilize the throttle very easily. So, makes it really fun now that the production model, which we don't have, does come with a front basket. So if you want to drive around town, and pick up groceries, you can put everything in there. And as I said, you have five levels of assistance. One, two, three, four, five. If you have big hills or hilly terrain that you need to take on, you can shift this into level five and you're going to cruise up hills. Or if you just want a little bit of assistance and you want to work your legs out, then you can keep it in level one and you can still get that exercise like I was saying, you know, find what's right for you. Also, you've got the seat here, which slides back and forth. So depending on what position is best for you, and what feels most comfortable, you can shift the seat and find the riding position that's right for you. So that feels just about right for me. And lastly, you can find the right comfortable riding position as well.

Handlebars are easily adjustable with a simple quick-release ,and then you can find wherever it's right for your body. I like it right about there, you simply just click that down, so no tools are necessary, nothing like that. And the other thing is if you are not local to us and we ship it, this comes 95 assembled. The only thing you have to put on is the seat backrest. So really easy to assemble. It was a lot of fun to ride. Comes with a front headlight, with the front and rear disc brakes so it stops on a dime, and the battery is a 15 amp hour battery so you can get up to 50 miles on a single charge. So anywhere you want to ride, you can do it on this. Now the distance and the range you get on the battery depends on what type of terrain you're going on and also the weight of the rider and how you use the electric. If you're using the throttle a lot, if you're using the pedal assist a lot, that depends on how much range. If you use the throttle more frequently, it drains the battery quicker. If you use lower levels of the pedal assist, you get even more range, quite possibly more than 50 miles. So if you want to see other videos of other riders on this, I do all sorts of test rides.
