This Tadpole E Trike is Awesome! Reverse Electric Tricycle is a Game Changer: EBike Review

The newest Tadpole e-trike that folds.

Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. And today I'm gonna show you a brand new Tadpole electric trike that also folds. This is the sixthreezero Easy Transit two-front wheel, tadpole, reverse trike, whatever you want to call it, e-trike. This is brand new from sixthreezero in 2024. This is a very cool electric tricycle. Now, typically, a tadpole trike is a trike with two wheels in the front, one in the rear. There are other names out there, which is a reverse trike or I just like to call it two front wheel trike. But typically you would call a regular trike a conventional trike or a traditional trike a trike with two wheels in the back. So a reverse trike is two wheels in the front also called a tadpole trike or electric trike in this situation. Now, there's a very cool tadpole trike It has a tilting mechanism for the front wheels. So this is a super versatile, easy-to-steer, easy-to-ride tadpole e-trike. Now, the one thing about having the steering that tilts is it's a little bit harder for this tadpole trike to balance on its own. Now, it's much easier to balance with the two front wheels in front.

But when you have this tilting capability, it makes it so the rider has to keep the handlebar straight for it to balance. But having the two wheels in front makes it much easier to balance than a two-wheel bike with just one, or two inline wheels. So there is a kickstand here that keeps it upright. Now you can see you can get it to balance on its own and it can stay like this if nobody touches it. But for the sake of just being sure it won't fall over, we have the kickstand here. So this is not like a lot of the tadpole trikes out there. There are a lot of recumbent tadpole trikes that have big fat tire front wheels and they lay down or semi recumbent, something like that. This is a tadpole trike with smaller front wheels. Now, the rear wheel is 20 inches and the front wheels are 16 inches. Now, it does have a low seat height position. This is 30 inches at the highest point. And the frame is only 11 inches to step over. So you can just step through the frame and slide back onto the seat. And it's very easy to get on and off. Now, this e-trike can, support riders about four, eleven five foot up to about six foot. It has a double seat post here so you can actually loosen this and this seat comes way up. And you also have the adjustable handlebars. Right now they're in the highest position, but you can also drop them down lower. And so from here, I'm going to pull that back up again. I am 5 10 and you can see for me, probably bring the seat up to right about here. Oh, didn't clamp that in all the way. Okay. There we go.

All right. So you just clamp this one in like so. And then you can also adjust this bottom one if you want as well to bring that up a little bit. Okay. Now lock that in. And from there, You can step on. All right. And you can see for me, it's a very comfortable riding position because I also have these mini ape hanger handlebars, which come into the rider's body as well. So, this is a 750-watt rear hub motor. So you have the 750-watt motor in the back here and you have a 10.4 amp hour battery going to get up to 50 miles of range depending on where you ride, Also how you ride, what combination of the pedal assist and the throttle. The higher level of pedal assist drains the battery quicker. More throttle drains the battery quicker as well. Also, the weight of the rider is gonna greatly affect the range that you get out of the battery as well. Now you have front and rear disc brakes, two disc brakes in the front, and one disc brake in the rear. You also have seven speeds on here. So should you want to ride this without any assistance, you can do that as well. It rides easy and I'll do a demo for you here in just a few minutes. You also have a reverse option, but make sure if you are going to use the reverse option, you keep your feet on the ground because balancing backward can be a little bit challenging.

So this is a great trike if you maybe have trouble balancing on two wheels, but aren't ready to commit to a conventional trike because you still want the maneuverability and versatility. In this Tadpole electric tricycle, the two wheels in front are just enough to give you that balance, but it's still super versatile fun, and nimble. And I'm going to show you that in a second. Now, before we move on, though, I want to show you the folding capability right here. You unlatch right here, you pull this mechanism up and now your frame folds in half. And if you want to check out more videos on our channel about the details of the folding, you can do that. So it folds here and then it easily goes back together by pulling up your pin, bringing that in, clamping down, and then your handlebars are going to fold down up here as well. So I would bring this down. Then right here is your folding and you just click that down and then you can lock that back in place. I can bring my handlebars back up. Click that in and your pedals fold as well. Push that, move this up right here. The pedals are all good. So if you want to lay that down in a car or something, folds up nice and easy. So let me go ahead and let me show you from the frontier. I think I already did, but you can see when you turn how it leans. I'm going to hop on now and do a quick demonstration to walk you through exactly how this tadpole trike works. All right, I'm all mounted up and ready to just demo this uh tadpole trike for you guys.

If you want to come in here, I'll just show you a couple of things um all my controls up here in my cockpit. I've got my power-on button right here. This is my drive and reverse option right here. And my pedal assists up and down. My gears are right here. So my gear is related to the bike, I'm in gear seven. And we also have a parking brake up here. So you pull the lever and you get the parking brake. Okay. So I'm just going to show you what it looks like. Now, again, you got to keep your feet. Now I can probably balance. Well, no, it's hard because of how much lean the front wheels have. Now I can just get going through with my throttle and then I can pick my feet up. And now if you see me from the back, you can see when I steer, how it leans. And it's truly amazing. It's like you can get a more severe turning radius on this than you can on a two-wheel bike because of how the tires lean. Make my loop. I'll try to make it, I can pedal too. All right, coming around. And we had a bunch of rain, so the pavement's all wet. You can still see how well it's gripping. You can almost do like ski slalom on this thing. So again, there are other tadpole tricycles out there that you know, they have a more rigid two-wheel front end and with that you're not going to get the sportiness and the nimbleness that you're getting with this one, right? Now I want to show you something also. I can go in and out of these cones. Let's see if I can do this without hitting cones. Okay, let's see. A little hard to regulate the speed. Oh couldn't quite do that one. That's all right. Let me try again. All right coming back around I know I can do it. This is very tight though I'll be honest.

Whoa. There we go. I guess I just need to use my brake a little more. There we go. I made it. Now you can see this too. I want to come around this curve right here. All right, now watch this. Here I come around this curve. You can see me lean into it. You can take turns so much different than on a conventional trike on this tadpole trike. It's just so smooth, and so fun to ride. Steers so easily. And you got to start to get the trust in it. You want to lean, you know, with the turning, which is a little bit different than conventional trikes where you kind of lean in the opposite direction. In this case, you lean with your turn. More like a two-wheel bike. So it's a lot similar to a two-wheel bike. All right, I'm going to turn the motor off for a second just to show you now how easy also it ride without the motor. Okay, no power at all. Shift this down a little bit. There we go. Still have the same versatility. All right, coming around. Put it first. So much fun, and easy to steer. So you can see how it steers and leans. The driving steering mechanism is just it's so smooth and easy to use. So much different than a conventional trike, even different than a lot of the other tadpole trikes that are out there because of the lean. Not a lot of the recumbent tadpole trikes have that same steering mechanism.
