Hey guys. Dustin here, CEO of sixthreezero. Want to talk to you today about what parts of a bike are interchangeable or easily swappable. Obviously lots of different parts, components, specs of a bike and so I want to just walk you through which parts are easily changeable. So let's go.
So looking at the bike here, one thing I'll say is most everything on a bike is really interchangeable. Now with that said, some have a more easy degree of difficulty and some have a more hard degree of difficulty. So let me just first walk you through the easiest, what you can do at home very easily and then we'll get into one of the more difficult ones.
Taking a look at our bike specifically, the number one easiest thing to change on our bike is the seat. It's a very simple attachment. The seat sits on the seat post. You could go, you could buy different seats online, you can buy seats from us and it's a very simple adjustment. You basically have one nut here or two nuts here you're going to loosen, the seat can pop on and off, you're going tighten that backup. Most bikes it's either a 13 or 14 or 15 millimeter, it depends on the nut and the attachment point. So seat.
The next thing that I'll say which is pretty easy is the pedals. So pedals are simply a 15 millimeter and you would bring it in here and loosen it and then the pedal would come out. It's just threaded in there. Basically, it just unscrews. So you can swap your pedals out, you can find different size pedals online, at bike shops things like that. So in order of ease, interchangeable and swap, I'd say the seat is number one, the pedal is number two. Now after those two we're going to get into a different degree of difficulty, so let me move up.
Next, we have the grips. The grips, it's not too hard actually. It's a little more challenging but the grips are definitely interchangeable. Depending on your handlebar size, different grips will fit on different handlebars, different types of grips, things like that. So to change handlebar grips, if you have an air compressor with a blower piece on the end it makes changing grips really easy. You can take a little screwdriver, pop the air compressor in and just shoot the air and the grip will pop right off. If you don't you can take a screwdriver, spray in some liquid and twist the grip and they'll pop right off. Then popping the grips on is generally pretty easy. Again spray on some hairspray on the handlebars and you can slide the grip right on. Shouldn't be that difficult to do.
So difficulty, moving through the bike. Seat, pedals, grips. Now after those we're getting into... you can change your handlebars. That's going to be a little bit more. It's not difficult but a little more time consuming because you're going to have to take the grips off, you're going to have to take the shifter off if you have a multi-speed, and you're going to have to take the brakes off. Now to do that you would just loosen some screws and they can slide off, but it's going to be a little bit more time consuming and tedious and maybe something you don't want to do at home. But again, it's interchangeable. At sixthreezero we can actually do that for you. If you do want to customize your handlebars, it's not on the customizer just yet. It is coming soon I promise because the handlebars are really important for comfort, but again it's something that can be done very easily.
So we've got seat, pedals, grips, handlebars. Now obviously we have a rack on here so that's interchangeable as well. That's actually pretty easy. Just two screws right here. Not every bike comes with a rack so I'm not necessarily mentioning that as interchangeable but on the EVRYjourney it is for sure.
So with that said, the rest of the bike and the components are going to involve a little bit... actually there's one more thing. Sorry, I didn't think about that. The tires and the tubes. Specifically, the tubes are interchangeable. Obviously, the tubes can pop and get worn down or lose air so the tubes inside of the tire. So tubes and tires. Now in the case of the front wheel, it's a pretty easy task. A little time-consuming. You have to pop the tire off, the tube's on the inside, you can replace that very easily. Same with the tires, it's not too bad. Now the rear tire can be a little bit more challenging. On some of our bikes, the rear tire is actually on a quick release, just like the front tire. In this case, it's not so you're going to need a tool to pop the rear tire off, rear wheel off sorry, and then if you want to pull the whole wheel out, but you'd have to put the chain back on if you're going to change out the rear tire. But tires and tubes are interchangeable. That's a common customization we do is we change the tires.
Now everything else on the bike is interchangeable meaning you could buy different parts, swap it out. On our customizer, things we do, we change the rims, we change the tires, we change the seat, we change the grips and then we also add accessories. You can also change or add fenders, things like that. In theory, you can change the fork, you could change your stem right here, you can change your derailleur. If you want to change this derailleur, put on a new derailleur, you can do that. You can change your crank. This pops out. You can change your seat clamp. Really you can change everything. You can change your shifter. The only thing that's really... the main piece of the entire bike is your frame and when I say frame actually I'm not including the fork, because the fork can be changed. You can actually pull the fork out and thread in a different fork if you want to.
So really, really customizable and really changeable. Now with that said, across all sixthreezero bikes, not every fork or every seat is compatible with another.
