What Did This 81 Year Old Rider Learn After Riding Electric Trikes for the First Time? It's Shocking

What our over 80 riders learned after their first time riding electric tricycles. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm joined by Constance who's 81 and a half. Turning 82 in September and today she just rode electric tricycles for the first time we're going to hear what she learned and what her experience was like.

Dustin:  All right. So Constance tried a couple of these trikes behind us and ultimately landed on the Simple Glide 500-watt recumbent e-trike, right?

Constance: I love it. Yes.

Dustin: And... Tell people about your experience now with your age and your physical ability. What did you learn? About riding an electric trike. What did you like or dislike? What scared you? Tell us everything.

Constance: Okay. First of all, don't be afraid. Secondly, I want to talk about that particular bike.

Dustin: Okay.

Constance: Because you don't have to, like, lift your leg way high to get to the pedal. You just kind of, like, it's so easy to get…

Dustin: Do you want to show them?

Constance: ...leg over that. Yeah. Because, you know, when you're over 80, you just don't have the muscles in the legs. I don't. And you see how easy that was? Well, also, I was intimidated... because it's electricity. And I think, oh my gosh, it's just going to zoom me. I'll be out of control. I'll probably fall and hurt and die. And none of that happened.

Dustin: But in all fairness, you were a little more scared of this type of more upright trike, yes?

Constance: Yes, and I'm not quite sure why. That one, I think it was, I didn't trust it. I should have trusted it. It's a three-wheeler. You can't get hurt by it. But it was my very first time, my very first run, and I kind of panicked a little bit. But when I got on this baby, I didn't want to get off.

Dustin: And when you started to use the electric then, it didn't scare you? You wanted to go faster in a lot of…

Constance: I wanted to not get off it. So we were supposed to go down the road, I mean, down in this paved area, and come back. And I kind of went to my left and I kept going and I went around the whole complex and then did it again. I mean, this is a beauty for if you're over 81 and a half.

Dustin: If you're over 81 and a half?

Constance: I mean, you could ride this to your hundreds. And look, it also has armrests. So you are 100%. It's like being in an adult high chair. You know, you're safe in it.

Dustin: So if you were speaking to other people out there who are your age, what are your suggestions or what would you tell them about electric trikes?

Constance: Get it in the color you like the most. That's what I would tell them. Everything. How do you charge it? You plug it in?

Dustin: Yeah. Yeah. You charge it in the back there with the battery. Yep.

Constance: Okay. Um, and then you can use that. You can just pedal. If you want to get some exercise, just pedal. You don't want, you just want to sit back and let the bike take you anywhere you want to go. It's a beautiful beautiful instrument.

Dustin: Cool. I'm glad you like it.

Constance: Yeah that's expanding the possibilities.

Dustin: So if you want to go, you know, commute on it or run errands on it, do things like that.

Constance: Yeah, and I understand you can put a basket on the front, put your purse and your groceries and your little dog, and then just go. Put a little seatbelt on him. I mean, it's such freedom, and it doesn't mean that if you're over 81 1⁄2, you have to stay home and watch the news, you can get out there and be very, very safe.

Dustin: Well, do you want to hop on and take a ride? I know I probably don't have to twist your arm to do that.

Constance: No, not at all.

Dustin: Let me make sure you're all powered on back here with the battery.

Constance: Okay.

Dustin: Let's see, are you? There we go. Now we just power you up right here.

Constance: Okay.

Dustin: And let me disengage your parking brake for you. Now, if you want to see the other video also of Constance riding for the first time, check that on our YouTube channel. You can see that she's a pro now, so we're going to let her zip around. Don't forget, if you have any other questions about any e-trikes or the simple glide, you can check it out or comment below or reach out to us at theteam@sixthreezerocom.

Constance: And here she goes.

Dustin: She's going to go for it. So while she's riding, I'll take us out. Don't forget, 30-day test ride your e-trag policy. If you don't love it in the first 30 days, you can shoot her driving away. One-year warranty on everything. We take care of parts and labor.
