Cheap e-bikes, what's considered a cheap electric bike? Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today we're gonna talk about cheap e-bikes and what exactly is a cheap electric bike. All right let's say you are shopping for an electric bike and you use the word cheap on your search and you're thinking I want something inexpensive now when I say the word cheap I'm saying inexpensive is not cheap bad or you know poor quality, let's say so electric bikes have a broad range of pricing out there now from as little as a few hundred bucks, 300 bucks, up to, you know, over ten thousand dollars depending on the e-bike that you get. So, the word cheap is obviously a relative term. What can be cheap to one person may not be cheap to another person right So, a thousand dollars may be cheap to someone two thousand dollars might be cheap to someone. Someone might walk into a bike shop and see, oh, a two-thousand-dollar e-bike is pretty cheap, and then another person may say, What, are you kidding? I need something for like 300 bucks. So the word cheap is a relative term. It means something different to everybody. Now, I will say if you're looking for the cheapest e-bike that's out there, you could probably find something, like I said, 300, 400, 500 bucks, maybe even below that, quite honestly. As you get into the 300 range, you're starting to look at smaller e-bikes, really small tires, not really like a bike that you're gonna wanna pedal on necessarily. Also probably gonna have a really small battery and a smaller-ish motor, depending on how small the e-bike is, right? So it really depends. So I would say if you walked into a bike store today, the average price of an e-bike's gonna be in the two to $3,000 range. There are going to be models, let's say $1,500 to $2,000 as well. But I would say most are going to be over $2,000 or right about $2,000.
When you look online and go on Amazon right now, you're going to find a whole slew of e-bikes in that $300 to $600 range or $300 to $700 range, and then when you go and look at independent brands online like us, Sixthreezero or just independent brands in general, we don't sell to bike shops.Typically, we're starting to, but our range of pricing is around 700 to 2,000 on average. We have a lot of e-trikes over that range, but our e-bikes are primarily for us and are actually in the 1,000 to $1,500 range. So if you're somebody that's coming from a bike shop and then you find our brand, you might say, oh, those are cheap. If you're someone who starts their search on Amazon and comes to our brand or bike shop, you'd say, Wow, those are expensive, and Amazon is cheap. So again, really depends on what you're looking for. But I will say you can get e-bikes for under a thousand, for under 500. Just depends on what your needs are, what kind of quality you're looking for, what kind of warranties you're looking for, and what kind of after-sales service you want that brand to provide. All of those things factor into the cost of the e-bike. It's not just about the specs and the components. So a lot of things you have to consider. Think about what's most important to you. Is it comfort? Is it the size of the motor, the battery, or the style? You name it. All of those things add up to the cost of any product, including an e-bike. So if you want the cheapest e-bike, go to Walmart, go to Amazon online, and you can find some options there. If you're looking for cheap or inexpensive e-bikes, we have some at Sixthreezero. There are also a lot of other brands online. You also may be able to find some local shops with them, but local shops are going to be more in that $2,000 and above range. But that may be the cheap price that you are looking for. Maybe you're looking for cheap e-bikes at stores as well.
