Why Buy a Motorized Tricycle? The Benefits of An Electric Trike and Why You Should Consider One

Why buy a motorized tricycle? Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry. Today we're gonna answer the question, why buy a motorized tricycle? All right, I've got two sixthreezero E-trikes right here. Our Simple Glide 500-watt Recumbent and our Simple Step-Thru Fat Tire on each right are linked in the description below if you want to check those out. Now, electric trikes, and motorized tricycles are becoming very, very popular with riders who maybe are dealing with balance issues or just don't feel safe on a two-wheel bike and want something more sturdy, and easier to balance. Now, the electric assist is a great option because it can assist you when you're pedaling or in a lot of cases, like on the sixthreezero trikes, you can use a throttle to power the tricycle without you putting in any effort at all. So why would you need this? Well, the reality of a tricycle that you pedal yourself is that it's going to be difficult to take a tricycle up hills. It's also going to be challenging to ride certain tricycles long distances.

So if you're somebody that's coming off of a two-wheel bike and you used to go on long-range adventures and now maybe your balance just isn't what it used to be and you're looking to switch over to a tricycle, an electric trike is a great option because you can still go on the same adventures you went on on a two-wheel bike. Now, not to say you can't do that on a non-motorized tricycle, but depending on the terrain, it may be more difficult to get up hills. Also, it's gonna be more tiring on a trike pedaling yourself if you're looking at doing rides 15, or 20 miles. The reality is is with three wheels on the ground, there's just more resistance, which means harder work for the rider to pedal and get the tricycle going. Also, if you'reto be able to keep up with them, having assistance on the trike, you will be able  somebody that maybe is riding in a group of other people that are still on two-wheel bikes and you want to keep up with all types of riders. You'll probably be able to lead the pack and you can use the electric assistance as you see fit. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. If you do want to use it, use it. So it gives you so many options and like I said, you can turn it off and pedal an electric trike or motorized trike without even using the motor, right? So the option is there to use it both with and without the electric option. So if you're somebody getting into the tricycle market and thinking about needing three wheels, I highly recommend considering a motorized tricycle because it's a great option and it's gonna allow you to do the rides that you've done your whole life by utilizing the assistance as you see fit.
